Biography
Chemist, Potionmasters' Labs
Being the daughter of Alaric and Bibbidi, Curie seemed to have a natural penchant for doing SCIENCE, but wasn't sure about her area of specialization until the arrival of Pyotr. Pyotr, a refugee skydancer from hostile Clan Aengus, is a specialist in poisons and potions, and his arrival sparked her great interest in the same.
After Pyotr was attacked by his clan of origin, Curie was able to use Pyotr's own knowledge to create a formula to help heal him. This was Curie's discovery of her love of and aptitude for chemistry. They now continue their work as a team, coming up with new formulas and improving on old ones. (Pyotr was rather delighted to find that she might be even more innovative in coming up with new formulas than he is!)
Pyotr and Curie were first able to put together a formula for Velvet that greatly lessened his everyday pain. They then began work on a potion to decrease Velvet's propensity for bleeding, and to strengthen his bones and tissues.
After finding out that Pyotr had secretly based the new potion on a formula he'd been working on in his former clan--a formula that included elements of shade--she angrily broke away from their partnership. But when it came down to a desperate bid to save an extremely injured Velvet's life, she acquiesed, and without telling anyone, they used it anyway. It worked well, granting Velvet a healing capacity almost equivalent to the average dragon, whenever he takes it.
A little while after this, Velvet found that he could get inside Taliesin's head, and both communicate with him, and see through his eyes, hear through his ears, feel with his skin. He soon discovered that he could do this with any dragon. But it was only when Curie admitted that the "special" potion was shade-based, that Velvet became suspicious that there might be a connection...
Velvet himself waited some time before letting anyone else know about shade elements of the potion, between the dangerous situation the clan was in at the time, and not wanting to be forced to give up his new medicine. Eventually, he convinced the science team to continue the manufacture and research of the potion--and to start more research on shade in general--not despite the shade, but because of it, and because of their need to know more about it in order to fight it.
An abashed Pyotr also agreed, along with the entire science team, that no avenue of research would ever be worked on in secret from the rest of the lab again. Whatever connection there might be between the potion formula and Velvet's "special" form of communication has yet to be established.
