Once a pure-blooded shadow dragon named Szaramoz, Saint was mocked and outcast by the shadow dragons in his birthclan clan for being born with golden scales "like Light dragons." With self-hate burning like fire in his veins, he fled to the Shadowbringer and pleaded with her to make him look like the darkness growing in his heart. The Shadowbringer, however, upon hearing his plea, threw back her head and laughed. "But you are so perfect!", she howled, "A shadow dragon that looks just like our enemies, a greater trick has never been played!"
Boiling with even more resentment and a new-found hatred, Saint snuck out of The Tangled Wood and journeyed to the Sunbeam Ruins, using his inherent stealth to approach the Lightweaver.
"You may be good at hiding, assassin but I can sense you. Do not make me eviscerate your very soul." she crooned.
"I am no assassin, O Great One.", said Saint, "I have come to pledge myself to you. Let me serve you as champion, give me your light so I may slay those of my own flight."
"I cannot make you what you are not, Golden Warrior. But I sense the hatred in you and oh, how it burns like the fire of a thousand suns..", her jaws curl into a grin, "I will give you a gift"
Before he could open his mouth to offer gratitude he was struck by a bolt of pure white light that tore screaming through his body until he was sure it bleached his very bones.
When he awoke, he heard a voice echoing in his skull.
"Arise, Saint... my Son of the Dawn."
