You enter the building.
It appears to be a very large library, with the ceiling so far above your head you can't see it. The library is dimly lit by several balls of conjured light, which hover in the air like a bundle of fireflies. Surprisingly, it's not dusty in here, though the architecture looks ancient.

You wonder who cleans this place.

{>Inspect the room}

The room is mostly filled with shelves and shelves of books and strange looking antiques.
You take a look at the scrolls and books lining the many shelves, and see clear green eyes staring back at you.
You jump in shock, nearly knocking over the bookshelves behind you.
What was that?

The creature emerges from behind the bookshelf, and you take a good look at it.
It looks like a kitsune, but smaller, with ashy fur and a white-tipped tail.

??: What are you looking for?

It took you a while to realize it hadn't said that out loud.

{>Ask what it is.
>Ask for help looking for the librarian.
>Tell it you're just browsing.}

The kitsune-like creature blinks before answering.
Minori: My name is Minori, and I'm a Knowledge Seeker.

You wait for further information, but Minori seems to be finished talking.

{>Ask what a Knowledge Seeker is.
>Ask for help looking for the librarian.
>Tell Minori you're just browsing.}

Minori: Knowledge Seekers were created by the Lore Keeper to catalog and seek knowledge. Most of the books in this library were found, or written by us.
We also provide assistance in finding books.

{>Ask for help looking for the librarian.
>Tell Minori you're just browsing.}

Minori: Wait here and I will go get the Lore Keeper.

It takes a while for him to return, and right behind him was a white Coatl with wings that looked like they were made of paper.
She looked ancient.
This had to be the Lore Keeper.

Lore Keeper: Hello, yes. Did you need something? The Knowledge Seekers can help you find any books you might need.

She seems a bit irritated.

You watch out of the corner of your eye as Minori starts slowly edging away from here.

{>Ask about the library
>Ask about the Lore Keeper herself
>Ask for further information about Knowledge Seekers
>Ask about the history of the Mouth of Thanatos
>Ask about the dragons living here}

The Lore Keeper visibly brightens up.

Lore Keeper: Well, this library is one of the oldest buildings here. Originally, it had a very...different purpose, but after the war ended we turned it into a library. Well, it was more of a glorified storage room for the clan's records at that time, actually.

She had been saying all of that in one breath, and took a pause to take a deep breath before continuing.

Lore Keeper: But since then, we've built on top of the original building and just kept collecting more and more books.

{>Ask about the original purpose of this building
>Ask the Lore Keeper about herself
>Ask for further information about Knowledge Seekers
>Ask about the history of the Mouth of Thanatos
>Ask about the dragons living here
>End the conversation}

The Lore Keeper seems to blush a little.

Lore Keeper: Y-You want to know more about me?

Her voice had gone up a couple octaves, and her tail twitches a little as she regains her composure.

Lore Keeper: Well, my name is Irri, and I'm the current Lore Keeper of this library.

There was an awkward pause as she tried to find something else to say.

Lore Keeper: I'm...not used to talking about myself to anyone and I can't really think of anything else to say about me.

Her tail drooped slightly, and she fiddles nervously with her paws.

Lore Keeper: I don't really have much of a life outside of the library if I'm honest, so I'm quite a boring dragon anyways.

{>Try to reassure her
>Agree with her}

You hurriedly assure her that she's not boring. She smiles slightly, but doesn't seem to believe you.

{>Ask about the original purpose of this building
>Ask for further information about Knowledge Seekers
>Ask about the history of the Mouth of Thanatos
>Ask about the dragons living here
>End the conversation}

She is successfully distracted by your question.

Lore Keeper: I'm sorry, but I can't tell you. I don't know myself. The leader at the time, a guardian named Eva had it purged from our history, and I'm not old enough to remember it despite appearances.

She's frowning slightly.

{>Ask for further information about Knowledge Seekers
>Ask about the history of the Mouth of Thanatos
>Ask about the dragons living here
>End the conversation}

She looks around for Minori, before realizing the Knowledge Seeker was gone already.

Lore Keeper: Well...Knowledge Seekers were created by the original Lore Keeper - one of my ancestors, actually.
Their purpose was originally to seek information, hence their species name. But as the library grew, they were also put in charge of helping dragons find what they need in the library.
You can tell how much knowledge they've contributed based on the number of tails. There has only ever been two that gained the max number of tails - nine. Most Knowledge Seekers stop gaining tails at six or less.
Oh yes, and be careful what you think around them. They can read minds when their eyes are open.

{>Ask about the history of the Mouth of Thanatos
>Ask about the dragons living here
>End the conversation}

The Lore Keeper whistles, and out of literally nowhere another Knowledge Seeker appears.
It's a different one from Minori, with bright red fur and black paws. You notice that it has four tails.
It's carrying a large book.

Lore Keeper: Thank you, Kaede.

She gestures for you to take the book from Kaede.

When you have, it disappears back to wherever it came from.

Lore Keeper: You’re not allowed to take this book out of the library, but you can spend as much time you want in here reading.

You thank her.

>Eventual Link to history<

{>Ask about the dragons living here
>End the conversation}

The Lore Keeper whistles, and out of literally nowhere another Knowledge Seeker appears.
It's a different one from both the Knowledge Seekers you've seen before. It's pure gold in color, and you notice it has three tails.
It's carrying a large scroll.

Lore Keeper: Thank you, Kin.

She gestures for you to take the book from Kin.

When you have, it disappears back to wherever it came from.

Lore Keeper: You’re not allowed to take this scroll out of the library, but you can spend as much time you want in here reading.

You thank her.

{>End the conversation}

The Lore Keeper thanks you for the wonderful conversation before leaving to go back to her work.
