Pain. That was all the Mirror could feel. She couldn't see either, but at the moment that was the least of her worries. A fresh wave of pain surged through her as she tried to stand, her legs buckling and making her fall back to the ground. She grimaced, feeling hot, sticky blood pour from the gashes on her sides. She was injured, badly, and she new that if she didn't get help soon she would bleed out and die. The events that lead up to this moment were a blur, she could barely even remember. Just quick flashes of dragons hidden in the dark wood, then suddenly out of nowhere they attacked and fled, leaving her to die. She tried to stand again, teeth bared in concentration. Slowly, she managed to stand in a crouched position. Thicket new movement wasn't good for her wounds, but she was in the middle of nowhere, no dragon would find her in time. Letting out a hiss of pain, she blindly took a step forward, her sight still dark.

That night was the longest night of her life, dragging herself through the woods, leaving a trail of blood in her wake. Every time she would bump into a log or rock she would let out a soft whimper of pain, stand for a second to pull herself together and move on. When dawn arrived she couldn't go on, and collapsed her breathing shallow. So this was it, she thought, staring at nothing for she still couldn't see a thing. She was going to die. Before she slipped into unconsciousness there was a rustle of leaves to her left. Lifting her head, the fins on her head twitched. There it was again, this time closer. Much, much closer. "Help..." She cried out feebly, letting her head fall back down. The rustling stopped, and there was a deafening silence. She tried to call out again, only making a pitiful wine instead of a 'help'. The rustling resumed, and the scent of a strange dragon filled her senses. They let out a surprised and horrified gasp, and rushed to her side. She could feel their presence.

"Oh my Arcanist, what happened to you?! Are you okay?!" The voice cried out, gently nudging her with a paw. "Oh gods.... Jake! Jake come quick!"

Soon after the voice called another dragon appeared, his scent wafting towards them as he drew near. She could smell their fear scent, along with confusion and worry. "She needs medical attention-" The second dragon starts, earning him a growl from the other.

"No DUH! Instead of stating the obvious, go back to our camp and grab anything that can help her." Dragon number one says. "Its going to be okay, we will take care of you-" She says, though her voice wavered. The other dragon returned, and dropped something near her head. "I grabbed all our bandages, some plants for a poultice to help her with the pain and-"

Whatever else the dragon brought, she never found out. She felt herself slip away, exhaustion and the pain making her pass out.

She didn't wake up until the next day, hunger clawing at her stomach. She lifted her head, surprised to find that the pain had become a dull thrum. She felt clean somewhat, though she could still smell blood, which had probably dried on the bandages that covered her neck, wings and legs. Then she realized that she still couldn't see.

'Oh good, your awake." Came a relieved voice to her right. Her head jerked in that direction, breath catching in her throat. "W-why can't I see?" She stammered, claws digging into the ground. The dragon sighed, and shifted closer and rested a tail on her back just above her wing joints. "They...they were gouged out, you didn't have any eyes when we found you..." She explained slowly, as if she were telling a hatchling why they couldn't stay up. Thicket shook her head, mumbling no over and over to herself. "Jake wrapped a cloth around the sockets so.. so they were protected, they were a mess.." She added, then grew silent. Thicket didn't know what to say, so she lowered her head, pressing against the dragon beside her. A Nocturn- she thought absentmindedly. How she knew and was so certain about it, she didn't know.

"Whats your name?" Another voice asked, the dragon that had run to get supplies. "Thicket.." She mumbled. "I'm Jake, and the dragon next to you is Devotee." Jake replies. "Sorry if we didn't do the best job patching you up... we were going to take you back to our Clan and have our medic look at you, and hopefully she can heal you better." He explains. Again, Thicket is at a loss for words and only nods.

"Do you want to tell us what happened..?" Jake adds, and she could feel Devotee tense up. "No, i'd rather not talk about it.." Thicket says, turning her head in the direction of Jake. "And that's totally okay." Devotee says softly. For a while the three sit in silence. Until Jake says hes going to go hunt for dinner. Devotee agrees with this and says she will stay behind with Thicket. She wanted to be wary of these strange dragons, but they did help her.. She felt a wave of sleepiness wash over her, and resting her head on the ground she slept until Jake returned. Tomorrow, she would be fully healed, or well on her way hopefully. As she slowly tore into a deer like creature that Jake had caught, she let out a shaky breath. She was safe, it was okay, she was going to be okay.
