Lucrest is the official envoy of the Light Flight living in Traveler's Rest. He is a scholarly and formal dragon, and often turns to the writings of old Light philosophers to guide his actions. He often feels separated from his fellow envoys and other citizens, on account of his excessive formality. However, he has managed to make a few friends while frequenting the Archives, including one of the head librarians, Artemi. His duties mostly consist of taking care of the Temple of Light, as well as teaching non-Light dragons about the customs of the flight. Lucrest spent his college years in the Mirrorlight Academy, studying the legends of Emperor dragons. A believer in the rivalry between Pearlcatchers and Imperials, he was searching for evidence that the Imperials were the Lightweaver's greatest mistake, and Emperors were the ultimate proof. When Luminax was awoken by elemental surges he quickly seized the chance to study them. He traveled to the Emperor's Wake and spent several months trailing the monster, studying its power and its, in his mind, pure evil. Unfortunately for him, Luminax changed course unexpectedly and destroyed his camp and all his research, barely letting him escape with his life. From that low point, Lucrest couldn't return to the Academy, so he caught a ride with a train of refugees until it he reached a relief center, where he paid Cobalt for passage to Traveler's Rest. Once at the Rest, Lucrest reevaluated his entire life. The citizens of the Rest lived peaceful lives, free from the petty rivalries so prevalent in the Mirrorlight Academy and the Sunbeam Ruins at large. The number of Imperials in the city even made him abandon his prejudice against them, seeing that removed from the Ruins, they were just as much the Lightweaver's children as any Pearlcatcher. He was first assigned to work in the Archives due to his scholarly background, but proved himself knowledgeable enough about the customs of the Light flight that he was promoted to being the Envoy of Light. |
