On a stormy night, the twin Skydancers Jack and his sister Frost were curled together in a cave while lightning and thunder roared throughout the sky. They had been trapped waiting for the thunder to stop for days but the sky gods were angry. With no choice, their parents had left to hunt telling them not to leave the cave under any circumstances. Jack and Frost's parents never returned and the twins were cursed to never dance in the skies again until they found true love. This is the point in the story where Jack and Frost were forced to leave each other, their only family left, to pursue love and find their way back to the skies.

Jack had only wandered away from his sister for a few days when he heard a distressed cry. Running, he crashed through trees into a picturesque glade and there in the middle was a beautiful Ridgeback female surrounded by a pack of wildclaws. They cawed at her and tried to grab at her feathered wings while she screamed and tried to escape. With a roar worthy of a Guardian, Jack charged into the fray knocking the young wildclaws left and right with his massive wings. It was over within moments, the wildclaws beating a hasty retreat, and Jack turned to the Ridgeback. Their eyes met and suddenly Jack was flying, dancing through clouds with freedom in his veins. He searched for his sister but was sad to realise that she had not found love yet. In fact, it would be many years before he saw his beloved sister again but with his Ammonite by his side, he could wait.
