WHISPERWIND CLAN - CLAN MATRIARCH

"There She stood, the Mother Dragon. Never have I seen a dragon with as much care and kindness towards her peers... She bore a certain aura of responsibility and carried herself with effortless grace." - Scholar Edwinn Rowe

Ashira is the decisive head of the Whisperwind Clan, acknowledged by the Windsinger himself after she accidentally found a coup by the Beastman to overthrow him. She was assigned a personal guard to protect her from any possible threats - both foreign and domestic. The proud guardian left with a small force of interested dragons from all elemental types, and later founded the Whisperwind Clan, settling on the Zephyr Steppes to nurture her budding Clan. The dragons spent a few comfortable years there, not pushing for too much expansion and settling for a quiet, peaceful life. They grew bigger than the Zephyr Steppes could easily allow and eventually, as her Clan grew to be more active and boisterous, she knew she needed a more lawless land to contain them. Thus, the clan packed up and moved, heading for Reedcleft Ascent, where they live currently.

Her Clan's life did not come easily, however. After a long stretch of time living in peace, her Clan had no need for a standing military and the only dragon of any capability was her own personal guard. Then, a rogue Beastclan raided the Whisperwind Clan in the night, defended only by her Royal Guard. That was the darkest documented night for the Clan and they lost a few good dragons to the onslaught of the night. Ashira spent the next few months fortifying her home and sent her guard to train some of the troops, so that they would never be caught unaware.

RELATIONSHIPS
Ashira and Bask are often described as "fire and ice". Their staunchly different personalities and demeanor imply that they might be better off with someone more similar, but the very idea sends them collapsing into each other in a fit of laughter. The sheer thought of being separated is unbearable for the two and they are often found with one point of contact at any given time - be it interlocked talons, tails resting against each other, or each other's wings carefully draped around the other's back. When the two are not nestled in close, they are usually within their field of view and always within earshot.

FRIEND
Ashira and Oracle met when the Mystic Imperial stumbled into the clan, warning of an imminent attack by a vicious Beastclan Horde. Most of the dragons were very skeptical of this cryptic imperial who claimed to see the future. Ashira believed her wholeheartedly and ordered the dragons to prepare for an attack at dawn. Surely, as Oracle foresaw, a horde of Beastclan warriors ambushed them at dawn, but thanks to Oracle's vision, the clan pushed them back and prevailed. Ashira and Oracle have been nigh inseparable ever since.
Ashira and Tywyn started off on the wrong foot to begin with. Initially belonging solely to her Beastclan of cutthroats, Tywyn led her Clan on a coup against Whisperwind and failed. Ashira took her as a POW and forced Tywyn's clan to leave. Tywyn was kept there for many unhappy months until Oracle and Glider managed to convince Ashira to let her go otherwise her hatred would fester to a calamitous amount. Ashira agreed after much, much persuasion, to which Tywyn decided to stay. To this day, Tywyn hasn't stopped reminding Ashira of how much she dislikes her. Ashira ignores it, though it has become increasingly difficult to do so as of late.

HISTORY
VNDO8L7.png Ashira hatched in her abandoned, war-torn nest, partly buried under some stray twigs and mud. It took 37 grueling hours of fighting the eggshell after she initially pipped. By the time she finally broke free and rid herself of her shell, she could hardly stand. She would have died if it weren't for a travelling scholar examining the effects of war. In all of his years, he hadn't once seen a dragon - especially a hatchling, nonetheless - survive such a gory fight for territory He arrived mere days after both clans had been wiped out in their petty skirmish, leaving behind naught a thing but destruction. To see such a pitiful infant before him, he intervened even though it went against one of his most precious morals - to let life lie. If the dragon was to die without him, he would not usually intervene. But something struck him about this particular infant. To this day, he denies it being anything but a temporary lapse in his judgement, but if asked Ashira will tell anyone that she knows just how lonely he gets travelling on his own. a companion didn't seen so bad.

Throughout her adolescence, nothing incredibly interesting stuck out. She met Bask who had suffered a similar childhood as she. This, as she says, is what drives her From that day forward, she became a staunch advocate against violence and will never come to blows unless one of her dearest allies or clanmates is in mortal danger She and Bask share similar views on this and what initially began as a loose friendship instead rose to immeasurable love towards one another. They travelled still with the scholar, bent on repaying him back somehow for all of the generosity he had shown them throughout his life.
Eventually, she and Bask began exploring the world on their own, testing the limits of their ability and even heading to some of their neighboring regions just to explore the world in all of it's wonder. One dusk, she noticed an ominous force amassing at the border of the Reedcleft Ascent. She felt as though this were more than a group willing to parley, so she flew tirelessly to the Cloudsong. Once she alerted the guards of the Windsinger, they immediately chased the dragons away and sent her to the Windsinger himself so she could become properly awarded. He was astounded to see such a young dragon and sent her back to her clan with an abundance of supplies, a few wayward souls, and a promise to help her if ever she needed it. With this gracious gift from the Windsinger, she and Bask settled down in the Zephyr Steppes, where she cultivated a clan of gentle souls and even kinder dragons.

Tragically, her vision of he perfect clan was ruined when the Beastclans swept through the lands and began razing the weakest clans. Unbeknownst to even Ashira, thre was a master fighter within the midst of her budding clan. The Windsinger discreetly sent one of his personal Guards to help Ashira grow her clan, and he was the sole defender of the Whisperwind Clan that dark night. Ashira watched Scholar Edwinn Rowe, her savior and her father, fall after an errant tail spine pierce his heart. After an eternity, Glider pushed them back and the Beastclans fled, their tails tucked in defeat. Though victorious, the scene was grim and a vigil was held for the true Leader of the clan, Rowe. At dawn, Glider was training new recruits and Ashira swore an oath to her remaining followers that she would die before anything like this ever happened again - and so far, her oath has been kept.
