Biography

Ticks exist all over the world in all climates but the arctic and antarctic. Not sure where you might live, but I personally live in an area of the USA with one of the highest concentration of ticks.
Ticks can cause lyme disease, and lyme disease if not treated early can lead to chronic lyme. If you're bitten by a tick and experience flu like symptoms (fever, pain, chills) visit a doctor and don't ignore it.
If not treated properly or at all, the illness goes into a sort of "hiding" where you're asymptomatic until it suddenly comes back. Then, you'll be struggling a lot. There's a ton of different ways lyme can affect you, from constant nausea and digestion issues to joint pain and neurological issues.
Lyme likes to kill your immune system, causing things you weren't bothered much by suddenly be very difficult to deal with. For example, I now cannot eat milk or cheese or my throat will swell and I get terrible stomach pain. Before, it'd just give mild stomach pain in large amounts.
Lyme also makes things you're more prone to occur. My lyme gave me, a young WOMAN kidney stones. It runs in the family, but it's so rare for teenage girls to get kidney stones. I've had surgery twice for them.
TREATMENT
The worst thing about chronic lyme is how controversial it is. Doctors will downright tell you you're lying if you say you have it. They won't give proper treatment. Doctors won't help you. Lyme is also very hard to get rid of, requiring years of antibiotics and serious dietary changes. Due to this, doctors will refuse treatment to people suffering.
But Chronic Lyme IS real. I have it. And it's so easy for people to get, so you should know about it.
PREVENTION
Ticks are most active after it rains! They hide in all types of leafy plants. When hiking or walking in the woods, you should wear LONG PANTS and tuck them into your socks so ticks won't climb up the legs. Ticks like to suck blood from WARM DARK parts of your body, such as pelvic regions, neck, armpits, back of knees, behind ears and in your hair.
I never would wish this on anyone. I was diagnosed in 2013 but it's suspected I had it for a while (year+) before the actual diagnosis. Everything I've been through was very hard. Please stay aware and tell others. Maybe one day, people will chronic lyme can get the treatment they need without being refused by insurance companies.
