Biography

Mortal Problems

Over near a side wall, a Mirror is messing with the black feather on his beret. Seeing that the others won't engage you in conversation you decide to walk over to the Mirror. As you do they straighten up their posture. Adjusting his eyepiece and scrapping his claws free from any dirt.

"Do you wish to hear the tale I am forced to tell?" his tone was even and evidently has been practiced.

[You nod]

You nod curious about what he has to say. Well, more like forced to say but it doesn't matter.

"With a dense collection of demons living in the Tundra, they cause havoc to the mortals that stray too far or summon them. The idea a mortal could survive being around them without being a prisoner or is being controlled was unthinkable to the nearby residents. Yet a day came where an Imperial hatchling was brought back."

"A friend of mine suggested I take this little guy in." Kaiyo, the clan's residents spy said as he dropped the young Anlong onto the icy rock. "His name is Anlong, say hello to your new clanmates Anlong. They're who I talked about on the way here."

"H-Hi..." the hatchling weakly studdered out.

He glanced between them all then turned to face Kaiyo "Aren't they all," the Imperial gulped "d-demons..?"

"Yes, as am I." the spy calmly responded.

"W-What?!" the hatchling stumbled back. "H-How?! You seem t-totally normal!"

Jakku cackled "Kaiyo is a master at acting! Why else do you think we made him a spy?" the Ridgeback grinned. "But I'd never imagine he'd bring us toys to play with!"

Null tilted his head "This would be his first time doing so."

He walking forward and started to examine Anlong. The young dragon whimpered in fear as the half-demon was so close to him. He tried not to make eye contact but when he did Anlong found that behind the boney mask he couldn't see anything. It was pitch black, he felt if he tried to reach in his arm would get stuck. That sent a shiver down the hatchling lengthy form. After a while, he retracting himself and took a few paces back. Null turned his attention back to Kaiyo.

"Why did you decide to take Anlong? You didn't state he was for slaughter."

Jakku frowned at Null "What're you talking about halfie? Kaiyo is a demon at heart and we always look out for each other's blood lust!"

Kaiyo shook his head "I merely brought him here as a fellow clan mate. Not as another plaything." the Coatl growled.

"Have you gone soft? I feel so wounded!" Jakku pretended to have been stabbed through the chest as she fell over with a loud thud.

A loud snarl could be heard from the cave entrance as Vicar stormed forward. Her jewels clanked against each other her pearl being held in one arm. Her older brother Virus followed behind emitting a low groan at his fellow demons.

"Why are you all being damn so loud?" the mage snapped.

"Jakku and Null came to greet me at the entrance but they noticed I had brought Anlong back with me." Kaiyo picked the hatchling up "He's a mortal dragon but won't be tortured. Jakku got upset about that, for obvious reasons."

Anlong found the Pearlcatcher just as frightening as Null was. Spiders were crawling along the webs on her wings and the ghastcrown she wore made him stare into red glowing eyes.

Vicar beneath her mask had a troubled expression. The young Imperial was clearly terrified, so far from home. Without parents. A part of her was saddened, she needn't think long as to the reason why.

After a few moments she sighed "I'll take care of him..."

Virus stared wide-eyed at his sister "Why? We could get Soot's mate, Chu to do it. She's an actual mortal."

The mage snapped at her brother "Doesn't mean he'll be safe, you know very well most of us tolerate her cause of Soot. Without that kind of protection, Jakku will make him her new toy."

The aforementioned Ridgeback stood up before pretending to be shot through the head and collapsed back onto the ground. Null grabbed Jakku's tail and began dragging her back within the cave without saying anything.

"That matters why exactly?" Virus shot the hatchling a glare that made him try to wriggle out of Kaiyo's grip to no avail.

Handing her pearl to her brother Vicar took the hatchling from Kaiyo's talons. Shifting him to one arm she began walking back to the library she created.

"Cause he's like me. He'll probably never know or remember his parents." she said in a hushed tone.

Virus sighed and followed his younger sister careful of her pearl "Never thought you'd have empathy for a mortal."

"Nor did I."

Anlong would never forget how those red eyes weren't scary in that moment. They were a comforting light, not that of the horror stories of demons but a dragon. Just another dragon.

The mirror seemed to have finished his story and returned to fixing his feather. You stood there for a while.

"Do you want to hear it again?" He asked after some time.

[You shook your head then walked away]
