THE HEAD CRYPTKEEPER
Aegis, aside from his job, is a kind but cold soul. Being deemed odd by most dragons, he's unfortunately avoided by many, especially the superstitious. Many dragons in his clan are near convinced he himself is actually dead, given his unknown age and the fact he's apart of the second generation of the clan- all of which has since died. Rather than being undead, Aegis was affected by a Scroll of Eternal Youth, making him far younger than he should be at this time. Physically, Aegis is the equivalent of seventy or so years old, but mentally and emotionally he's in his early twenty's.

Aegis predates his clan by only a murmur of time. Born to a pair of poor wildclaws living on the East side of Dragonhome, he left his home lair at a young age. He found his current clan when it was just making its very beginnings. Intrigued, he stuck with the clan. Deeply spiritual and reflective of death, Aegis convinced the then clan leader to carve a crypt under the agreement Aegis would manage it until he himself was laid to rest inside. To this day, Aegis dutifully manages the crypt, seemingly nonsensically wandering the crypts fixing and cleaning whatever he can. The clan boasts one of the cleanest crypts due to Aegis' obsessive cleaning.
Paranoid and traumatized, Aegis is highly untrustworthy of others. He's seen many dragons fall from illness and battle alike. Aegis frequently accompanies the family or others laying to rest fallen dragons, making him rather cold towards death itself. Despite walking amongst it each and every day of his life, Aegis has an extreme fear of death, he's haunted by the contorted faces of the dead he sees shambling through the sandstone walls. He never wants to be that. |
