Caeneus

”You promised me that you would call me your empress. All you gave me was lies, and deceit. Decorated as your trophy and left behind as your mistress.”

Caeneus came from a time that was filled with love, and light. Her family was the richest among the lands and had a firm hand in making the kingdom it is today. Without them, the Kingdom of Abyss would be nothing. Her family was made purely of Skydancers who were well trained in the many different arts. Caeneus had a love for music, and would often sing for her fellow friends and family. Her voice was melodious, almost serenading to anyone's ears who would be fortunate to befall her singing. To them, she was their jewel and most treasured possession.

Caeneus however, was a free spirit. She was against the tradition that her family upheld, and wanted to be free like the peasants she grew to know growing up. She didn't want to be a lady, she just wanted to be a normal girl. At first, she was a snobbish spoiled brat and she remained that way for a long time until she met a girl who would change her life. That person was Branwen. Branwen was humble, and kind. She brought joy into Caeneus's life that she didn't know was missing. They were forced to spend everyday together, and with those days together grew laughter and tears.

"Branwen, we'll be friends forever right?" Caeneus would say, looking at her friend with youthful glee. A smile adorned her face, as her eyes were filled with a love that you would only be able to share with someone you cherisehed. Branwen reflected this look, as she shyly looked at Caeneus. "Of course! We'll always be friends Caeneus! Forever!" Branwen replied, her tail swishing happily.

Those were the happiest days of their lives.

To her, Branwen was her person. Branwen was her whole heart. But how deeply, they never realized until the day came of Branwen's engagement.

Branwen's family was in close ties with the royal court. She was to be married to the neighboring King's only son. The day they met it was love at first sight. Caeneus was more than happy. Or so she thought. They were to be married that following late spring. As the days were looming closer to the wedding date, Caeneus was feeling uncertain. Something inside of her, just didn't feel right.

One of those days in the early spring, Caeneus was laying in the grass with Branwen. Atop a hill while they were among a huge meadow of different wild flowers. Branwen and Caeneus years ago when this hill was barren and just a pile of dirt. They had planted and spread many seeds across this hill and over time, they grew in the soft warm sunlight. Just how the flowers grew, their love for each other grew. Blossoming into something they wouldn't know until it was too late. Her head was sprawled across Branwen's lap, as they watched the clouds go by.
