Melashka

Flashing multicolored lights. Thunderous, pulsing music. The roars and cheers of hundreds in the stands. The rusted gate rose, and the Corrupt Carnivore stalked into ring like a predator on the hunt. She raised her head and roared, and the cheers became near-deafening.

Born to a wicked Lightning clan after having her egg stolen, Melashka was raised to become a savage built for bloody battles in an illegal fighting ring. She was known not by her given name, but the stage name "Corrupt Carnivore". They raised her to crave the adrenaline in battle, to relish in the cheers as blood from her opponent stained her teeth and mane. For the longest time, it was all she knew, and the crowd loved their undefeated champion.

Melashka wasn't allowed outside the complex that held the arena beneath it. She lived in the barracks along with several other dragons and beasts, though each was contained to their own cell. Despite how many times she had severely injured the lot of them, most still admired her as the formidable Corrupt Carnivore. It made her feel strange, guilty even, being treated so kindly by those she'd torn up in the ring. It caused her to feel as if what she was doing was wrong.

Two nights prior to a battle Melashka had been told would be hard even for her, the infamous Wildclaw thief Manuel broke into the holding area of the complex with his Skydancer partner, Vissi. Manuel had the intent to free those held prisoner and forced to fight one another for the amusement of a crowd, or in his way of putting it, he was going to literally steal the show. While he was a criminal, he was one that abhorred unnecessary violence and death, and this illegal ring had been full of both for years.

One by one the Wildclaw and Skydancer opened up the cells, Vissi telepathically giving the former fighters instructions on how to get out of the complex safely. The last cell Manuel got to was Melashka's, the most spacious and livable cell closest to the ring's iron gates. She had awoken at the start of the commotion, startled and confused. These two strangers were granting the others freedom, something she hadn't known she craved until she saw it right within her grasp. When Manuel approached, she looked down at him, too stunned to speak. He didn't have any words either, but he took note of her bloodstained, dirty white fur. Was she too far gone, he wondered? He couldn't see emotion in those primal eyes, Plague was the toughest to read... Ultimately, he decided to unlock her cell, and hit the floor as Melashka leapt over him, making a run for it. For freedom.

Only when she was outside the complex did Melashka realize she had no idea where she was going, nor where she was supposed to go. She had her freedom she so hungered for, but...where was she supposed to go? The champion stopped running, turning her gaze up to the moon and its soft, pearly light. She hadn't seen the moon in so long... Not long had she been staring before she heard a dragon clear their throat behind her, to which she quickly whipped around with a snarl. Manuel and Vissi stood there, the Wildclaw holding his claws up in a gesture of surrender. Cautiously, he spoke the words that would forever change her life.



Manuel and Vissi had led Melashka to Clan Madrigal, the perfect place for a dragon like her. She needed a clean slate, and Queen Nexus was more than willing to give that to her after having her advisor assess her. A former champion fighter like her was able to earn her place as one of Nexus' most prized warriors, though she needed a few lessons in restraint when savagery wasn't needed. The queen also makes use of Melashka's intimidating visage when interrogations become necessary, or the need to drive off enemies or put a stop to fights arises.

Melashka is proud to serve her new role among her clanmates, and has made a few close friends within the clan despite her poor social skills. Fever is her best friend, and she was first drawn to her on account of the two of them both being Plague Primal-eyed Gaolers. Fever thankfully was able to start teaching Melashka some social skills, but she retains some quirks from her past that won't quite ever get ironed out. Despite fragments of her past remaining with her, she's vowed to never return to those roots and to be thankful every day for her freedom.
