Biography

GXCUmqq.png AYAMI

Left by herself in the shadow of her mother’s kite at seven, Ayami became a wanderer, but she always held a desire that she could be more than a nomad. She was a traveler determined to engrave a name for herself upon the marble pillar of life. The first time she glimpsed a sword, she knew it would be how. This silver blade, in all its glittering finesse, could kill someone or save a life. With this sword, she could become a revered heroine. So with her delicate, dangerous weapon, she wandered deeper into Sornieth, knowing she would meet evil souls that had to be slain.

Ayami had never once left the clouded winds of the Twisting Crescendo, and she was both disturbed and delighted to find a world so different from hers in the Ashfall Waste. The melted amber rivulets of flame and the smoke in the sunset skies held a sinister beauty that the Crescendo did not have. Ayami was a wind spirit by birth, but the wasteland enthralled her, and she rashly decided that this empire would be her home forever. But her euphoria died when she stumbled upon the Blaze Vein.

Strangers. Dragons.

Dragons, who Ayami had mistrusted since the moment her mother left her. Dragons who now slipped by before her eyes, not like the cold-blooded monsters she had always imagined, but creatures that could live, and love. The tribe awakened an unknown hope in her heart; perhaps, she mused, not all dragons were like her mother.

Before long, Ayami became aware of another presence. The cloaked silhouette lurked in the shadows of the clan she now admired. Always evanescent; here one moment, then gone. She could not discern his purpose or his motives; his story was shrouded from her, and she hated him for the secrets she didn't know. Misgivings clouded her thoughts at every glimpse of the masked newcomer; her polished instincts told her to be wary of him.

It was after dark one day that the silhouette materialized once more. He drifted into the lair, but not before Ayami, hidden behind an obsidian stalagmite, glimpsed the murder in his eyes. Cold and suspicious, she pursued him, her steps soft and silent. His knife was in midair, its silver blade tilted towards its target, when Ayami’s sword went through his back.

Ayami was accepted into the Blaze Vein, to her relief and elation, and heralded as the heroine in her dreams, but her ambition would not end there. Ayami had her eyes on the hierarchy of her new home, and the destination she desired was at the very tip of the pyramid. She scrutinized every chance to ascend and held her cards close; she knew there was more to this tribe than met the eye, and menace lurked deep within. So the first time the Guardian with the cruel sneer glanced her way, Ayami knew she had been ensnared in Lava’s cobweb of secrets and betrayal.

Lava was not to be trusted. Ayami knew this enemy was malevolent and manipulative, and would kill her without a moment of regret. But what wicked schemes did this Guardian want her for? Ayami’s stomach twisted with the realization that her enemy’s games might be ended with her death. She vowed that she would watch Lava’s every move, and her sharp eyes analyzed the Guardian’s every weakness. Perhaps, Ayami could play her own games too.
