She lies in wait. Her scales turned to chitin, snares at the ready. She is empty. She is camouflaged perfectly in the strange blue grass of the arcane lanes. She is empty.
She once loved to sing. She had such a lovely voice that she travelled the world to let all hear it. She was taken, and assimilated.
Her consciousness recorded her songs into the database. It is occasionally played during times of great stress to calm the others. But she is empty. The songs are gone from her voice. The love of life is replaced with an empty code.
Lie in wait.
Feel the dragon touch your tendril.
Capture them.
Drag them into the dark.
Assimilate them.
Repeat.
Forever.

This one isn't a shade born, but... they like it. They keep it almost as a pet. And it makes more 'pets'. They sustain it, and give it dragons to convert when they're bored. It's almost beneficial to them both.
What I hate the most is that it used to be an actual dragon. A thinking, living, breathing dragon. Now it won't even move unless... SOMETHING gives it commands. It's not the shades, though. They've gotten frustrated, actually, because they can't control it. I don't know what's controlling it; I doubt it's nearby.
The best course of action is to put it out of its misery.
I just need the opportunity; they never let this one out of their sight...

And a warning to any rookies reading this:
If you value being yourself, stay away. Or you'll become another one of it.
