“You DARE have relations with the LOWEST family in our order?!“ Ver’s leader screeched. She knew she had done wrong when she had fallen in love with a Fallenfost. She was the grandchild of the most powerful family in her clan and she had broken the most important rule: bloodlines above all. Now her family line was tainted, the power of her family in question call because of her.
But she couldn't go back now, her dumb heart had gotten her here with three children, how could she have been so stupid? Her so-called ‘love of her life’ was backed into a corner watching. Letting her fend for herself in front of the most vicious dragon in the clan, CrimsonGlory.
“You sniveling little fool, you’ve ruined everything I’ve ever worked for in this clan, you let your heart get the best of you, hasn’t your mother thought you anything?! We are Ice bloods, cold, calculating, and powerful, not be with such...pests”
“ CrimsonGlory....” Ver started.
“QUITE! you’ve spent too much time with the Fallenfrosts, those soft souled tundras, they’ve clouded your mind with their stories of old.” CrimsonGlory spat.
“HOW DO YOU EVEN KNOW MY CHILDREN ARE FALLENFROST?” Ver blurted out, she instantly knew she did wrong. CrimsonGlory stopped in her pacing. She turned her back on the cave entrance, the ice outside sending blinding light in, that reflected off CrimsonGlory’s scales, turning the whole cave a ghoulish red. She stalked over to the nest where Ver shrunk away.
“Do you think I’m blind child?” CrimsonGlory growled. She snatched up one of the Spiral hatchlings And it squeaked. and held it up to her eye then showed it to Ver. “All these hatchlings are too dull to be part of The Icynight family and Saphsea is too loyal to his mate to ever have children with you. So that leaves one family. The Fallenfrosts. And in that family is two males, one I happen to know is also loyal to his mate, that leaves one left.” CrimsonGlory growled and swung her head to look at the tundra in the corner. “ Come here and explain yourself, what were you thinking? That having children in both families’ names would give you a claw hold, something to bargain?” CrimsonGlory hissed. Polarwind walked to CrimsonGlory and sat down in front of her.
“The way you treat my family is far from acceptable, so I devised a plan that would even the playing field,” Polarwind said in his usual cool demeanor.
“You....used me?” Ver asked, tears starting to form in her eyes. Polarwind’s face fell as he looked at his mate.
CrimsonGlory smiled.
“My love I- I didn’t intend to fall in love with you-“ Polarwind’s sentence was cut short as CrimsonGlory whipped around hitting him with her tail, sending him into the cave wall. She then faced Ver.
“ I’m so sorry my child, heartbreak is one of the worst things a dragon can endure, do not worry dear we will find you a mate worthy of you,” CrimsonGlory said comfortingly.
“B-but you said that my blood was t-tainted” Ver hiccuped.
“Nonsense darling I was just mad, everything is going to be ok, but I need you to give me your children, we can forget about this and no one would ever know, alright?” Cooed The red dragon. Polarwind watched desperately from the wall, his head bleeding from the impact.
“O-ok,” Ber whispered sadly. She got up from her nest and walked towards CrimsonGlory.
“See? Everything is forgiven VermillionSnow, go home and get some rest, this damp cave his awful for your scales.” CrimsonGlory said soothingly.
“No! Ver don’t do this! I wasn’t finished, I didn’t mean to fall and love with you, but I'm so glad I did! You’re the love of my life, please don’t do this! Don’t leave our children to this, this monster,” Polarwind cried desperately. Ver looks at him and back to the nest with the newly hatched dragonettes, then back to him.
“The only monster here...is you,” VermillionSnow said with a strained voice. With that last look at the nest, She took off from the cave. CrimsonGlory turned back from the cave entrance and stalked back to the nest.
“You are a humiliation to your family tundra, at least when your parents lost they lost with honor,” CrimsonGlory grumbled at the stricken Polarwind.
“Is that what you call honor? Manipulating your granddaughter?” Polarwind challenged.
“Nonsense you broke her heart and I comforted her,” CrimsonGlory said sweetly.
“Only because of you! You mind washed her and wouldn’t let me finish,”
“ Quite you miserable ball of fur.”
“Dragons should be allowed to love who they want to love!”
“Ha. If you really believed that you wouldn’t have stopped your sister from being with one of the Iceynight’s, oh don’t look so shocked, I know all the happening in my clan.”
“You didn’t know about this.”
“And yet here I am.”
CrimsonGlory hovered over the nest and picked up one of the Spiral hatchlings, with a quick movement, she killed it. She dropped the now lifeless body and picked up the next.
“What are you doing?!” Polarwind hollered run to the nest. The red dragon held up her hand and he stopped short. I’m getting rid of them, the abominations.” She spat.
“ They’re my children and by your laws I use my leader’s shield to protect them,” Polarwind said sternly.
“ are you sure you want to do that, you can only ever use it once in your life” CrimsonGlory growled annoyed. Polarwind nodded his head. “ why must you be such a pest!” CrimsonGlory exclaimed angrily. “Here take her.” She tossed the only tundra child to him, he barely caught it.
“Both of them.” He said with an edge to his voice.
“Either you take the furry disgrace and leave or they both die,” CrimsonGlory hissed. This wasn’t his plan he needed them both, but the tundra would have to do. “No problems? Good.” CrimsonGlory picked up the last hatchling and ended its life. Polarwind, turned towards the entrance holding back tears before he could leave CrimsonGlory called him back. Her claws were covered in blood as was the floor of the cave and nest, the hatchlings killer stood over it. “Before you go I have a few rules for you,” she hissed menacingly “ one, that brat of yours is to be raised not knowing her mother, two you will not speak of this night nor where you got the hatchling. And third, you are to never speak to VermillionSnow, if you do you will face consequences worse then what I about to do now.” She turned back to him.
“What do you mean?” He asked tersely, clutching his child to his chest.
“ What I mean is while I was busy with VermillionSnow and the disgraces I nearly forgot to punish you for your actions. Just because I let VermillionSnow off without punishment, for now, does not mean I’ve gone soft. Maybe next time your mouth will know it’s place.”
