The roles that the Coatl chose are both a pleasure and almost burden on him, though he more looks at the positive sides of what he’s been through so far. One of the odd perks from those roles is being able to use his colors as a disguise of his born element, and surprise any dragon that guesses he was an Earth-born. Arlo tends to believe that he is a true Earth elemental, not just because of his parents, but he was born into Water for a sole reason of having to discover the deep hidden treasures that rarely other dragons ever look for.
At first, he used to only be an archeologist, searching to the deepest pressures he could go to make any new discoveries for himself, and wanted to never do anything else, only taking brief rests before diving back down into the depths again. Arlo’s obsession soon came to a stop from a certain underwater cave he found, being filled with drowned, unknown creatures that immediately risen to life from his presence. Through panic fueling him and being luckily clever, he managed to flee from them. Ever since then, he took on a full scavenger role, but still keeps his first special role anyway, and has an unimaginable fear of zombies, especially fearing the Emperor.
(Got hugely inspired by this headcanon to write his story, tried my best to not copy it by accident =w=)

Arlo is a part-time archeologist, and full-time scavenger. He uses special gear to spend extended periods of time underwater. He's made some astonishing finds- including an underwater cavern full of undead creatures. Because he was exploring alone and underprepared, he was ambushed by zombies. If it wasn't for his quick-thinking he would have died. He scurried back to base to recover, taking a few weeks off from exploring. Magic strong enough to keep a cavern of undiscovered undead creatures a secret is unheard of to Arlo. The experience scarred him, and now he fears zombies above everything else.
