Merlin ran through the field with his King, trusted friend, and possibly a little more than that, Arthur Pendragon, not far behind. The field was a grass-filled opening in the middle of the woods near to Camelot, their home. Merlin had recently shown Arthur the extent of his powers when handling nature-based magic and they were both feeling great about it. As Merlin neared the end of the field, the warm colours of the trees danced around him. Nature had always been something he loved just as much as nature loved him. Arthur watched in awe as the warm leaves seemed to be playing together as they circled around Merlin’s body. Arthur knew his most loyal friend and subject had a knack for all things nature but it was always a surprise to him to see the many different ways that nature reacted to his Court Warlock. Arthur gave Merlin a smile that was easily returned as the leaves were carried off by the singing wind. Arthur finished walking the rest of the way towards Merlin and they continued on their merry way back towards Camelot. The little, relaxing times that he got to spend with Merlin were everything to King Arthur. Due to his royal status, everyone expected so much of him and it was nice to get a break. As they walked through the winding trees, Arthur proudly patted Merlin on the head. As they walked, Arthur couldn’t help but note that nature seemed to always be looking out for him and Merlin. He appreciated the gesture as well as treasured it. There were many people that would stand in his way for peace, but Merlin was always there protecting him along with the very nature of the Earth. He couldn’t help but smile at that. The King would never be able to fully express his gratitude to either one of them, but he knew that they were aware of just how grateful he really was. Merlin was the most sacred being to ever walk the Earth, even the often arrogant King could see just how sacred his Warlock was. All magical beings often noted how the pair were two sides of the same coin. Arthur saw how much that was true the more he spent time with Merlin. Out of everyone to share a destiny with, Arthur was eternally grateful that his destiny was with Merlin.

Soon, the pair had started a race towards the castle gates. Arthur, being the more athletic of the two, won of course but it was all in good fun to finish off the day.

As Arthur laid down that night to rest, his thoughts drifted to Merlin as he slept. These thoughts turned to a wish the King didn’t even realise he was making - to spend each life after that one with Merlin by his side. Together, they could conquer anything.


As lifetimes passed before their eyes, Arthur’s wish had gone through. They were inseparable and never tired of the other’s company. Currently, they live a life in Sorienth as dragons with the others they knew in their first life. They don’t stay in one place for too long as they love the adventure. One day they may settle down, but for now they enjoy the thrill of danger and mystery. Merlin is a mighty Guardian, ever the protector of Arthur, while his counterpart is a mighty Imperial. Just like every life, Merlin his connected very strongly to nature and it to him. Arthur loves slowing down every once in a while just to see nature interact with Merlin. While Merlin’s connection with Nature will always be the same, that’s just another thing Arthur will never tire of seeing.

In parallel to their very first world, Merlin trotted through a field with Arthur close behind. The season of Autumn was coming to a close for Sorienth but the two were always just happy to be with each other and all of their long-time friends. Just as always, Arthur watched the warm coloured leaves dance around Merlin as if he was the most precious thing in all of the universes. Which was exactly how Arthur viewed Merlin, so he could understand nature’s love of his oldest companion. However, this time the beautiful leaves decided to also dance around Arthur as well as he approached Merlin. The pair stood there, staring at the other, with goofy grins on their faces. They never knew all those lives ago that they would continue to be apart of the other’s destiny even in the lives to come but they are in no way complaining. If they could just keep standing there, looking at each other, and if time would just stop even for a minute then they would feel much more than complete. The other already made them feel complete, but this was one of the best moments in all of their lives. With the warm leaves dancing about and with them just staring into the other’s eyes, it was almost as if they were back in their first life. They could almost imagine it as if they were truly there. I was blissfully relaxing and nostalgic all at once. They never wanted to look away.

While Camelot was long behind them, they’d never forget the life they lived or the people that they helped. They will never forget how the grass, the streets, dirt, or anything else felt to them back then. They may one day return to a life similar, but right now this is where they were. This was where they were going to make this life fantastic. This is where they’ll help more beings. This is where they’ll learn about the lives and a universe totally different from any past ones they’ve ever had the privilege to exist in. This is the life and the universe in which they might find their biggest family yet, in time.

They are just two sides of the same coin for all eternity and they are ecstatic about it.
