Biography
Name meaning: Rhogog (The Bearer of the Cup of the Blood of the Ancients) is a fictional deity in the Cthulhu Mythos. She is the creation of Micheal Saint-Paul, and first appeared in his short story "Sacristans of Rhogog" (1991).
Rhogog is a Great Old One and was born when Cthulhu's blood was spilt upon the ground during a clash between Cthulhu and his half-brother Hastur, hinted to have occurred around Great Britain or Ireland. Intending to use the blood for some unnamed purpose, several Star-Spawn put an entity into his spilt blood, an entity which would ensure that the blood would never be harmed. This entity lay dormant, gathering power, and eventually became the being called Rhogog.
Rhogog is a being of darkness, although normally is seen in the form of a great, black tree. No matter what shape he takes, he is always very hot to the touch. It is unknown if this is simply due to Cthulhu's blood within him or some other aspect of his dark nature. The story ends with Rhogog deciding that good and evil don't matter.
Rhogog came from the Sylvani Clan in The Behemoth. Born to perhaps a bit unconventional parents, he is a bit unconventional himself. He was intrigued by his mother's habit of collecting things and, though he is not as much of a collector as she is, he does keep a few trinkets that he finds especially interesting or remarkable. These trinkets are items that hold memories of dragons and places that made an impact on him.
As a Seeker-in-training, he broke off from his mentor while passing through the Windswept Plateau when this clan in the Zephyr Steppes caught his attention. Something about this place... and several of the dragons living in it... struck him as suspicious. Perhaps he should have completed his training to better understand if this was a matter that required his attention. But he is a naturally curious creature himself and ended up settling in to see how events play out.
Eventually, as he settles in, he may end up lending his skills to helping the clan scouts from time to time.
He was the second Gaoler to join Haven. Carrot was the first. The dragons he initially found suspicious were Taki, Algernon, and Minnie, though the behaviors of some of the more Trickster-ish Nocturnes confused him. Ultimately, upon careful investigation, he decided that they were not dangerous.
