Albel Nox (Albel the Wicked, Albel the Demon)
A captain of the Aetherstar Legion, one of the three elite military divisions of Aticia, a realm of Shades who broke away from the main kingdom of their race, this incredible swordsman is known by the nickname "Albel the Demon" for his cruelty. During Albel's Shadowbonding Ceremony- a half ritual, half battle ceremony that marks a covenant with a powerful shadow spirit- he failed to take his place among the Spectral Knights when he was unable to commune with the black spirit of a shadow dragon. He should have died where he stood, but his father, Tasam, shielded him and saved his life. However, Albel suffered severe burns to his left arm and it took him an extremely long time to regain use of it. From that moment on, Albel was raised by the Shades' unlikely ally, a Sangheili warrior brought to their world by sheer chance and an awry Slipspace jump, a renowned and aggressive swordsman by the name of Khyda 'Kasamee. Many insist that his preference to take no prisoners and leave no survivors in battle was influenced by this Sangheili. Albel is later framed as a traitor to the realm of Aticia by a well-respected, high-ranking officer of the Spectral Knights named Navad Sevius and imprisoned by the ruler of the realm due to the well set up ploy. His father's death has led Albel to self-loathing, as he believes that he did not deserve to be saved since he had failed. Out of fear that someone will sacrifice themselves to save him again, he refuses to let anyone too close so that they (along with himself) won't be hurt again. Despite being well intentioned (usually), Albel is socially inept; he speaks very little, and what he says is often threatening in nature. His ways of showing affection are strange and often come off or start off as threatening.
