B I O G R A P H Y • Witch; Priestess Morgaine was born into the Veil, to Vyklade and Thern. Thern left the Veil shortly after Morgaine and her siblings hatched, leaving Vyklade to raise a clutch of three hyperactive hatchlings by herself. Luckily for the new mother, Betelguise stepped up and assisted in the rearing of the hatchlings. While playing high in the trees with her siblings, Morgaine lost her footing and fell a significant distance to the ground, where she sustained injuries to her wings. She had broken them, an injury that rendered her crippled and incapable of flight. She is required to walk or swim everywhere she wants to go. Morgaine is best described as callous, cynical and cold. Unlike the majority of her breed, she is considerably quiet and withdrawn, preferring to keep to herself. Her worldview has been shaped largely by her disability and the way others have treated her throughout her lifetime. While she is untrusting of newcomers and many of her own clan members alike, she is bound by her own sense of duty to help and look after them. Morgaine often acts as the unofficial leader of her clan, as well as a priestess of the Shadowbinder and a witch. Due to her status as priestess, she often collaborates with Sol in order to not only fulfill clan goals, but also flight goals. She determines who is exalted, and few individuals besides Sol can intervene once she has decided one way or the other. She is the head of religious activities and runs a small business on the side selling spells and remedies to her clanmates and outsiders alike. Very few dragons have been able to capture Morgaine's platonic affections, and even fewer have been able to capture her romantic affections- a grand total of none. It has become something of a joke within the clan. It is rumored that she is unable to love, and thus any advances upon her are a complete waste of time and effort. In reality, it is more likely that her own standards are too high, and she can't bring herself to trust anyone to allow them close enough to her in order for her to fall in love with them. To say Morgaine has many friends would be a blatant lie. She is largely solitary and instead prefers to call anyone even remotely close to herself either an acquaintance or an associates. She respects Sol, and while they don't always see eye to eye on everything, she finds herself admiring them all the same. She views Betelguise as a sort of mother-figure as she assisted in Morgaine's rearing. |
