Motley

You wander through the Trading Post, set at ease by the bustle
and chatter of dragons all around you. Vendors shout over the
din, trying to sell their wares, and the sound of bartering,
cheering and laughing can be heard everywhere.

With such life, you're set at ease, as if everyone in this remote
Post is friendly and just seeking a story or coin.

You turn the corner around one of the rows of vendors and see
a jester, dressed in monochrome colors. He's a large,
intimidating dragon, and though his face is contorted into a
smile and his voice is cheery, it doesn't reach his eyes.

A chill passes through you as he locks his deep, purple eyes on
you and it seems as if all the light and cheer is gone from the
world, the background noise you'd grown so used to fading
away.

Then his stone-cold gaze moves on, and the moment is over.
Shuddering, you hurry past the jester, the sun already chasing
the chill away.



Motley is a grim figure, and many are surprised upon learning
his chosen profession - a jester. The stories he tells the
hatchlings and young dragons are dark, and often leave them
trembling when night falls, yet for some reason that the adults
can't seem to wrap their heads around, they keep coming back
for more.

He is the only entertainer in the Trading Post. Occasionally, a
bard or other such entertainer may come through, yet they
never do seem to stick around for more than a day, if that.

Though he is quite the large dragon, he relies on his magic to
intimidate rather than his strength, calling on the shadows to
isolate the victim and make them see their worst fears. He has
chased more than a few dragons away with this method,
including Elovar.
