______ Carmen was born in a large clan near the Beacon of the Radiant Eye. Her father instilled a love of knowledge common to Light dragons within her, and she left her clan in the pursuit of knowledge from other parts of Sornieth. One day, she came across a clan devastated by an Emperor, and being the curious dragon she was, Carmen asked the survivors what had been able to cause such massive destruction. She'd known about Emperors before, but not how truly destructive they could be, and the recount of the devastation one had sown on the clan made Carmen truly see Emperors for what they were. That knowledge left her with a great fear of Emperors, and she started to learn how to make traps, reasoning that attacking an Emperor directly would almost certainly lead to death, so attacking one with traps from afar was the best chance at survival. She started to avoid other Imperials as best as she could, not wanting to die near one and become an Emperor herself. That all changed when she met Scarlet. Carmen was already living in Frostfall Village by that point, and very nearly left when Scarlet joined as a break from her travels. When she heard that Scarlet would only be staying temporarily though, Carmen reluctantly decided that leaving a clan she'd grown attached to just because an Imperial joined temporarily would be an idiotic decision, and resigned herself to eagerly waiting for the day Scarlet would leave. As the days passed, Scarlet would try and start a conversation with Carmen, and while at first Carmen would politely refuse, she slowly started reciprocating the conversation. It didn't take long after that for the two to become close friends, and eventually they even became mates. The day Scarlet would leave, Carmen found herself feeling nothing but sadness. It seemed like forever ago that she was scared of her mate, and now that they had become so close, she didn't want Scarlet to leave. Luckily for her, Scarlet chose to stay as well, and the two continued their lives in the village, now hunting together and bringing meat to the village.

______ Even before coming across the destroyed clan, Carmen had always been a worrier. She'd worry about everything, from things as small as possibly forgetting something that could easily be replaced to bigger things like getting robbed. Her thirst for knowledge always overcame any doubts she had though, and it was the reason she could set aside her doubts and worries and set out to travel and gain knowledge. Now that she and Scarlet have become mates, Carmen worries a lot about Scarlet. She worries that her mate will one day fight a beast she can't handle and die or that one day Scarlet might change her mind about staying in the village and leave. By far the thing she fears most, however, is that Scarlet might run into an Emperor, get killed and become part of the monster. Scarlet has always reassured Carmen that none of her worries will become reality, but she can't shake her worries off despite that reassurance. Although Carmen is perfectly comfortable around Scarlet, she still feels some fear whenever she's near other Imperials, although she's trying to work past it and the other Imperials in the village have been nothing but patient and understanding. Carmen still has a strong thirst of knowledge and often goes to the library run by Grimoire. The two of them have become close friends because of Carmen's regular visits and sometimes set days aside to spend some time together. Carmen enjoys laying out her traps, often thinking about how to outwit her prey. Often, when she cannot think of any way to trap a certain creature, she turns to her familiar Trixie to help. She will put food inside the Mimic first, in hopes of trapping the animal without a fight, but if it sees through the ruse, Trixie will lunge towards her unfortunate prey, killing it anyway.
