Sephtis nodded in agreement, despite the nervous shifting of his many eyed gaze suggesting the opposite. "To be exalted," the Pearcatcher continued, "is the highest of all honors." With a swish of his tufted tail, the candles lining the walls of the chamber at the base of the stairs danced to life. "And to be the dragon blessed with the task of guiding those hallowed souls towards their eternal post," he paused as he turned to face the trembling young Coatl, "is almost as important. Today marks the beginning of your apprenticeship. May The Flamecaller illuminate your path." Sephtis spent several years under the careful tutelage of The Alliance Exaltation Captain, studying the ancient and sacred rituals and rites they followed. Despite his initial hesitance, he actually excelled in the field. That is, until his father was selected as a less-than-willing exaltee. Although he refuses to divulge any further information about the specific ritual practices (or his father) with his covenmates or anyone else, it's clear that his upbringing has turned him towards... Well, bitter heresy, in the words of his former mentor. He now practices exclusively secular magic, focusing primarily on protection spells and warding. |
