Biography

Daughter of Horus and Sekmeth, but was raised by Ambrosia instead. When Sekmeth was around, she was wonderful, but Bayanar never received her father's love. She knew of him only as a distant, honored figure. He was incredible, and her people worshiped him about as much as they did the Lightweaver herself. As his daughter, she received some praise herself. But she began to wonder if her father truly cared. He was busy, of course, but throughout all her years as a hatchling she could count the amount of times he'd visited her on one hand. Those precious, precious times. But she felt barely acknowledged when they came. | x |

She wanted to feel accepted and loved. She wanted more connection to her family. She kept an eye and ear out, quietly slipping into places she wasn't necessarily supposed to be, just to catch a glimpse of her father - or maybe even just hear the talk of someone who had managed to come in contact with him, but she was low on luck. However, she did hear talk of her siblings. They often spoke of glorious Hecate, a prodigy among hatchlings that shone brighter than the rest. Bayanar already knew her story, though it stung her a bit. No other hatchling of Horus's nests have come close to her brilliance. She wasn't just another "Bayanar," she held claim to a special name. She was strong enough to take on an emperor and live! But she left on a vacation and never came home. They spoke less of one of her brothers, a Rugan, who left to study somewhere in the Southern Icefields. She thought it strange that no one knew precisely where, and stranger still that they didn't seem to care. They spoke of him with some disappointment in their tone that bordered on scorn. They said he'd lost his way. She was shocked to hear of more Rugans and Bayanars, sons and daughters, whose light had already died out. They were spoken of only in passing comments in lighthearted tones. All that was left of them were compliments and fond words. They were sons and daughters of Horus, after all. Honored in death as his children. And one day she heard in a hushed tone, one more name. Kauket. The dragon who spoke it was immediately hissed into silence, and Bayanar could gather nothing more. They don't speak of Kauket. Bayanar felt her heart sinking as she learned more of her siblings. A heaviness was creeping into her chest and lurked in the air just behind her. Dread. She looked over her shoulder more and more often as time began passing, and wheels turned in her mind. What had happened to all of them? She'd never thought about it before as she was so fixated on her father, but where were the rest of her family? Did her father know that they were missing? Did he care? If all her siblings were doomed to go in one way or another, then what would happen to her? She had leads for some of her siblings, and there was always her nestmate - another daughter, another Bayanar. She only now began to find it strange that her father had not bothered to find more than one name for a boy or a girl. Some part of her had decided it was a ritual of sorts, and she must prove herself to receive a truer name - and even if she could not, then what was wrong with Bayanar, since it was a gift from her glorious father? She was starting to think otherwise. But the other sibling of hers, Kauket, whoever they were - they had received a name, but it was a cursed one now. Why? Who were they? She didn't even know if they were a brother or sister. While she had the least information about Kauket, she knew somewhere inside her that the answers would lie with them. She had to find them. And so, under the guise of leaving on a pilgrimage, she left. But the dread followed. | x |

Hatchling Caretaker
x | Whenever the clan comes across a lost hatchling or takes in a young recruit, Bayanar is always there. She feels the need to provide for them, pushed onward by both a sense of duty and a dull, aching sadness deep in her core. She knows how to mother thanks to the care she received from Ambrosia, and feels the urge to give love to hatchlings that would otherwise never receive it. She knows what that feels like. | x |
xxx | Little sunbeam ursa cubs were common around Bayanar's childhood home. She suspects that there was a breeding program at one point, but that's not something to fuss about. She had befriended one as a hatchling and decided to keep it as a pet, giving him the name Clarity. Now that she's older she recognizes the difference between a pet and a familiar, and has taken to treating her ursa with a bit more respect, a bit more like an equal. Their bond only strengthened when Bayanar set off on her journey, and Clarity has been a helpful guide along the way. He keeps Bayanar grounded when her worries and anxieties start getting the better of her. |
Bayanar was adopted from Slugoon and is related by lore to Horus, Sekmeth, and Kauket.
