Amber

"Amber, what are you doing?" Ignoring Chime's entrance, Amber lifted the beaker up to the light so she could admire the clear liquid. A twist of her wrist set the contents swirling. In the bright lights she could just make out the faintest opal sheen to the liquid within. She smiled in satisfaction. Her experiment had proven successful. "Amber." Ugh, clearly Chime was going to be insistent again. It was almost as if he didn't trust her. Which was ridiculous. It wasn't as if the last explosion had hurt anyone. It had singed his fur a little bit. But it wasn't as if that counted as being damaged. "I am preparing for the festival." Carefully placing the beaker in the stand along side its fellows, Amber turned in time to see Chime's expression shift from wariness to outright alarm.

"What exactly are you preparing?" He asked, coming further into her lab. Really, he was over-reacting. He peered at the line of six beakers in their stand, going so far as to lean over and sniff at them. "And how likely is it to fill my infirmary?"

Amber thought it over. "Some few might end up there. But as long as they don't over-do it the symptoms are more than tolerable."

Chime looked between her and the beakers before leaning over and taking a quick sniff. He jerked back with a snort and a short laugh. "Amber," he said, clearly amused in spite of him self. "Are you planning on getting everyone drunk?"

"Only if they choose to drink it," she said stiffly. "As you know it is notoriously difficult for the larger species of dragons to reach a sufficient 'buzz', and the smaller species find it far too easy to reach such a state. Hopefully my recent creation will help with that."

"How so?" Chime asked, clearly intrigued. It was in moments like this that Amber was reminded of why she worked with him from time to time. There was no denying that she was strange, but Chime never seemd to have any trouble keeping up with her. Or keeping her in check, which she could admit in the privacy of her own mind, might be necessary.

"I created this solution from a derivative of the Peace Lily sap, as well as various fermented fruits. As long as it is consumed with care and precision regarding a dragon's size and weight, there should be no...'incidents'." She made the finger quotes because she knew how much it irritated him.

Chime blinked at her, then rolled his eyes. "And how exactly are they going to know how much is best for them?"

Really, Chime's insistence on asking questions he already knew the answers to was absurd. "You will be administering the beverage throughout the evening."

"Of course I will," Chime said with a sigh.
