Biography

Jadeite is the temple's patriarch in Sooth-Saying, a powerful and wise— if disorganized— sorcerer. He has come up with many, many, many spells which he has added dragonkind and for specific use in the temple. Many of these spells have wound up being overly completely and therefore rarely used however. Jadeite is trusted with many of the temple's more delicate and important tasks as well. He officiates any ceremony or ritual which calls for a Sooth-Sayer, much to the jealousy of his opposite, Arcana. The Pearlcatcher is also very disapproving of Jadite's overall messy and more open-minded magic style. Though the two have worked together before and Jadeite bears no ill-will towards Arcana, Arcana would still prefer to work alone.

The Skydancer Danté was chosen by Jadeite to become his new apprentice, due to his fluency in Flight Magic and his whimsical and inventive nature. Jadeite is very encouraging of new inventions from Danté, often going as far as to help him with his efforts to combine magic and machine. The Imperial sees nothing wring with this prospect, viewing it as the next step in Flight Magic advances. Arcana couldn't agree less however, and spends more time than she should criticizing and scolding both Danté and Jadeite. Despite this, Jadeite continues to be supportive to his apprentice.

Jadeite can be summed up in two words: disorganized and friendly. Much of his personal quarter and spell workshop is in a constant state of chaos with papers stacked and strewn everywhere, beakers overflowing, tools scattered about, tomes zipping through the air, his familiar zooming every which way, and plenty more. More often than not the other dragons risk head or other bodily injuries just by walking past his workshop! The messy aspect goes as far as to affect Jadeite himself: a scraggly beard and mane and spectacles bent to one side. Even as scattered as Jadeite is, he remains friendly and is one of the easier dragons to approach in the family. He's never afraid to give good advice, provided he isn't sleeping behind a stack of papers, and in general is more than willing to help out if he can.
