"Isn't it your fault in the end, for choosing to believe in me?"

-Her backstory is very loosely based off of several myths.
-Her father was interested in the inventions of a mortal man named Darius, and offered said mortal both immortality and one of his daughters' hand in marriage. In exchange, he wanted Darius to work for him.
-Darius ended up accepting, since he had no reason not to. He chose Obelia over her other seven sisters due to her exceptional beauty. However, he lost interest in her quickly due to her timid and frankly boring nature.
-Obelia began noticing how much he was ignoring her, and tried to get his attention back, but couldn't.
-This continued for a long time - Obelia desperately trying to regain Darius' "love" and Darius getting more emotionally distant. That is until Obelia caught him and one of her younger sisters in bed together. Heartbroken over this, she went out, got drunk and had a one night stand with Cion before having a full breakdown and pouring her heart out to him.
-Cion, who was already pretty resentful about Darius' rise to power took advantage of the emotionally vulnerable Obelia, and convinced her with some sweet words and promises of love to betray Darius. Using one of Darius' own inventions, the two trapped Darius and his mistress with a net.
-Cion claimed he would only convince Darius to divorce Obelia so that she could instead marry Cion, but instead he humiliated Darius by summoning the other Gods. Not only that, he made Darius sign a binding contract to work for Cion instead.
-Told Obelia afterwards that he was only using her, leaving her heartbroken yet again.
-2 for 2 heartbreak probably isn't the best track record for the goddess of marriage.
-Helps Chase get an audience with her father, then after her father turned down Chase's proposal helps him further by giving him several artifacts as well as guiding him towards stealing Darius' contract.
All because she loves Chase, and considering how Chase gets together with Anna at the end of the story, well...3/3 heartbreak recorrd is kinda crazy.
-Falls hard and fast in return for any affection or kindness due to just how little there is of either in her life. She doesn't love herself enough for a healthy relationship though, and she's willing to let others take too much of her in a desperate attempt to keep them. She can't set and enforce boundaries either, since she will give literally everything she has until she has nothing left to keep those she loves happy.
-Pretty well-known by the mortals and quite powerful due to her being the goddess of marriage. Her name is invoked for luck at weddings, prayed to to keep couples together and so on. Her self-esteem is still at rock bottom despite all that though.
