Biography

Mercy
Shadow Warrior & Life-mate of Savil
23QyPZf.png
BFM0y2x.png Even in the far reaches of the Sunbeam Ruins the dragons had heard whispered rumours of a shadow coatl with a heart as dark as her midnight feathers. It was said that she feared no beast, dragon or spirit and had single-handedly defeated numerous coliseum monsters whilst her comrades lay fallen beside her.

With a reputation of extreme confidence, Mercy was known to wear armor of glistening white, a declaration to the world that she had no need to hide in the shadows.

Many know of her exploits in battle. Many fear and mistrust her. But one stands by her side forever more. Savil, the gentle and quirky scientist, manages to unlock the rarely seen soft side of a dragon born for battle. Around Savil, Mercy is a different soul. Savil is her heart and her only weakness.

Although forced to leave their former home and search for a new place to be, at least they had each other.

The story of Mercy the Shadow Warrior was a tale to strike awe and trepidation into the heart of gentler dragons, and the current subject of discussion around a low fire deep within The Hewn City.

“They say she called herself Mercy because there is none in her heart,” sly Adaephon was ever the one to embellish a tale, “that she kills without remorse or pity.”

“Rubbish.” The low growl of an imperial carried clearly to where the group was gathered, despite the dragon resting well away from the glow of the fire.

Turning to the speaker, Adaephon chuckled. “You’ve heard the stories WhiteFang. I bet even you would be afraid to face her in combat.”

The expected outrage at such a jibe never came, much to the surprise of the other dragons. Their shock increased when his low response was spoken. “That would be unnecessary. I do not fight comrades.”

WhiteFang’s words sent a ripple of excitement through the gathered dragons. Only Kylara, curled up against Darian by the fire, looked calm and unsurprised. Adaephon stared hard at his former mate, shocked and a little annoyed that she would make a decision like this without consulting him.

“Is it true? Mercy is joining the clan?”

Forest-green eyes, the twins of his own, looked up at the star-coated Fae with a hint of amusement. “Oh did I forget to tell you? It all happened so suddenly. Yes, the coatl named Mercy is indeed coming here, tomorrow. Her former lair disbanded and she and her girlfriend were seeking a quiet place to settle down.”

“Girlfriend?” It was news to Adaephon that the apparently bloodthirsty coatl had a partner.

“Yes, a lightning dragon by the name of Savil. I thought she might be able to help Kakashi with the lair power generation issue.” The expression on the gentle tundra’s face suddenly turned hard and she stood to address the clan.

“These dragons have been invited by me, personally, to join the Seireitei Clan. Whatever their histories, both have just lost their home. I expect you all to be welcoming and kind.”

It didn’t take long for everyone to settle down again and the conversation steered to a discussion on Kakashi’s progress with the lighting around their lair. The matriarch’s word was final after all, leaving little room for argument.

In the deepening gloom of his position to the side, WhiteFang smiled to himself and shifted in his armor. Kylara had consulted him about the two new clan members, relying on his knowledge of Mercy from his journeys to other regions. He’d of course heard the tales, concluding that most were embellishments made by weaker dragons who did not understand the pressures of combat. Perhaps with the newcomer’s arrival he would no longer be dubbed the lair’s most terrifying dragon. Reputations like that were hard to live up to. With a shake of his head he dozed off, tuning out the chatter of the others.

“Probably a clan full of faes and tundras,” the disgruntled muttering was kept low so that her love wouldn’t hear. Stronger than Savil as she was, Mercy did not enjoy arguing with her much smarter partner. It still baffled her that the intelligent and gentle lightning coatl was with her at all, given all she had done.

Apparently she had not spoken quiet enough, the white coated dragon walking a few paces in front halting and craning her neck around to give a stern look. The effect this had on Mercy was diminished significantly by the distraction of her mate’s beauty. To her Savil had always been a fragile treasure, first coveted and then, after a magical moonlit evening, hers to protect forever.

“Sorry. I know. I’ll try, I promised I’ll try.” The warrior dipped her head and brushed against Savil’s lightning adorned plumage, enjoying the resulting tingling sensation.

Savil couldn’t help but smile, her irritation dissolving to indulgent amusement. The scientist had been captivated by Mercy’s strength from the moment she joined their former clan, delighted to discover a secret softer side existed in the heart of the battle-hardened female. Not that her girlfriend would ever show it to any other. A soft laugh was huffed through delicate nostrils before she turned and continued picking her way across the uneven ground of the Hewn City.

Nobody said it would be easy, but she’d spoken long with the matriarch of this new clan and believed it really was their best shot. She didn’t mention the existence of two experienced level 25 imperials to her lover. There would be time enough for their new roles to be defined. “Faes and Tundras, yes they’ll be there. And you’ll try to be civil to all of them, no matter how weak they seem. This is our chance Merce, we can be ourselves here. We can relax.”

As she followed Savil closely, Mercy kept a constant vigil, taking advantage of her flexible neck to watch for any threat. If she was alone any attack would have been barely worth the energy it took to rebuff. But her mate was only level 1 and more vulnerable than she cared to admit. Thankfully the lands of Lightweaver did not seem hostile, although their current surrounds were a dim and eerie ruins. Begrudgingly, the shadow dragon had to admit she felt an affinity with the unexpected solemnity of the place. Perhaps she could feel at home here after all.
