Kestrel was born into a water Weyr, and while they were nothing but loving to her, she never felt she fit in there - her Weyrmates were always swimming and playing in the sea, but she could never get it right. She always turned her gaze upward, into the bright blue sky, longing to soar for hours and hours. But her father, a Snapper, couldn’t teach her, and her mother was always busy with her young siblings.

But then she learned her clan had a sister Weyr. She begged and begged her parents to let her go to them, and they finally gave in. They sound out a message, and in a few days, a tiny Fae dragon came to escort her - the patriarch of the Weyr.

As soon as she set foot there, she knew she belonged.
