Splash

Splash, like his mate Sandy, hatched from an abandoned egg. But while she hatched under the sun in Redrock Cove, he hatched surrounded by darkness in the Conch Caves. He spent his entire life trying to escape with no luck. Over the years, he got to know his way around the Caves, and befriended the two ancient dragons that lived there, Ptah and Tezoth. And then one day, Sandy showed up. He fell in love with her, and with her help, he was finally able to escape the Caves. They arrived at Seashell Shore and decided it was the perfect place to raise a family. They lived happily with their three daughters, Seaweed, Coral, and Abyss. But then Sandy decided to start a clan, with her as the leader. Splash grew bitter and resentful that she never asked him to lead beside her. He refused to settle for second best - he wanted to be the leader. Letting his ambition get the best of him, he started giving orders behind her back. He told his daughters that they could go play in the water during a storm, but Sandy called them back, saying it was too dangerous. His pride was hurt by her contradiction, so he secretly told the hatchlings to play in the water anyways without telling their mother. They did, and one of his daughters, Coral, went too far and drowned. Splash was devastated, and his heart heavy with guilt, he confessed what he did to Sandy. She saw him as a danger to the clan, and sent him back to the Caves that he had been trapped in for so long. Too grief-stricken to argue, Splash obeyed. His eldest daughter Seaweed ran after him and came to live with him in the Caves. He started a clan of his own - the Cave Clan, willing to accept any dragons not welcomed by the Shore Clan. He was reunited with Ptah and Tezoth, who joined his new clan. He finally got what he always wanted, but not the way he wanted, and now he must always live with the consequences of what he's done.
