Biography
A sharp incense hangs heavy in the air as you pass through the curtains to enter the oracle's lair. The walls are so heavily draped in fabric that you can't see if there are any other doors, let alone walls.
Pillows lay scattered around the floor. There is a small brass bell on a pedestal next to the doorway you entered through. You ring it.
"Hello!"
"Hello!"
The oracle appears through another curtain. Both heads stare and bob and smile as the abberation settles on a pile of cushions.
"Hello hello! Do tell your-"
"Name! Yes, tell us your name! I am Lette!"
You start to speak, but immediately the oracle cuts you off
"My name is Eyee-Oh! Do you want your future revealed?"
"Or perhaps your past uncovered!"
"Mine is more interesting."
"Mine is more useful!"
"Why would you want to know the past? The past is dead! It cannot change the future!"
"The future is uncertain. You can learn from the past! It can inform future decisions."
"History is dry and boring."
"You're dry and boring!"
"Well! This supplicant wants to know their future, so there! You want to know who your destined mate is, right? Unfortunately I cannot tell you that."
"Of course you can't! Because the future is useless!"
"No, it's because I see five! Two dead. One alive! And two others draped in blood and moon."
"That's not what they want! They want to know who their father is! He's a Guardian, dearie. Such an old bore, you wouldn't like him. Not that it matters, he died-"
"Stop interrupting me Lette!"
"But it's fun! Come now Eyee, surely you know I can't help it."
"Harrumph! Well, dearie, perhaps you can ask us your question."
"Yes! Question! We may have an answer, you know. That is why you're here after all!"
A small whisp darts past and disappears into the curtains. It is carrying your grandmother's amulet. You stare at the oracle, who is unnervingly quiet, staring intently. You turn around and leave. This isn't worth it.
