What's it gonna hurt?

Boccaccio pulled one of his firestarters out from under the folds of his wing cover and looked around. What else was the pile of firewood for if not to be set alight? No one was around, and the wood would only be doing what it was meant for.

Burning . . .

He tapped the firestarter with a claw and it sparked. A smile split his face in half, revealing sharp little teeth lining the inside of his maw. A small tongue darted out to lick his chops, and then he tossed the firestarter into the pile of firewood some dragon had meticulously collected for who knew how long. The spark was the perfect catalyst, and not long after, the whole pile was crackling and popping, consumed by flames.

The smoke filled his nostrils and embers floated through the air, landing on the ground and on his scales. He watched the pyre burn higher and higher, consuming the entire pile of firewood and the surrounding grass and weeds. It reflected in his glasses and eyes, and he only smiled wider.

PERSONALITY

Boco is a little something you might call . . . a "functioning psychopath". He does just fine out in public and even runs the inn, Hotel in the Wall. He just works at the front desk, of course, booking rooms and making sure everything is running to Blitzshadow's standards, but he still is the main face you see.

So, it's important that he can at least pretend to be normal.

His anti-social tendencies still leak through in his mannerisms and cadence - he might stand too close to a guest or maintain eye contact for far too long, and his speech pattern is a little disjointed and circular, wrought with strange pauses and trailing thoughts. It's just uncanny enough to leave most guests feeling a little uncomfortable, but there's nothing inherently malicious about interactions with him.

Outside of Hole in the Wall, though, he doesn't keep up the facade. Especially with Lyn. The two share the same sort of energy, though she is far more removed from reality than he is. They smile the same amount, slither together in much the same manner, but where Lyn is prone to fits of laughter, Boco will just keep smiling. Where Lyn is liable to tangle herself in a knot and hurt herself, Boco is more careful and hates being injured.

And, of course, there is the fact that he does really enjoy setting things on fire and watching them burn . . . he limits it to small bushes or already-dead corpses, but he still is very much the arson he used to be.

All of the smoke he's inhaled over the course of his life has left him with a persistent cough and he tends to wheeze a lot while he's talking, which just makes his interactions a little more strange. He does actually need the glasses he wears, too, though Lyn loves stealing them from him and watching him flounder around in a near-sighted daze.
