You think your eyes might be playing tricks on you; after all, pumpkins vines don't move, do they? Suddenly you feel fear bubble up in your throat at the thought of a snake slithering about your feet. You begin to flee the garden at a brisk pace, and the steady rustling of something following you causes you to break out into a run. Once you reach the pumpkin patch's edge, your pursuer seems to stop. Looking over your shoulder, you think you see an itsy bitty spiral peering at you from behind a large orange pumpkin... perhaps it was a trick of the eye after all.

Hobak is a harvest spirit, a small group of impish creatures that watch after the safety of gardens and orchards. No bigger than the smallest faes, these spirits take the form of teeny-tiny spirals; their small size allows them to dig into tree trunks and large fruits, where they act as natural pest control and see to it that pesky birds and bugs stay away from the harvest. They are born with quite a lot of energy, however, which usually manifests as harmless pranks on unsuspecting visitors.
