FFdAVzK.png Warm firelight spills from a narrow doorway in the mudbrick wall, a rare flicker of light in the darkness of the Brambles. Weapons of all types hang from hooks hammered hastily into the wall, and the floor is cluttered with battered pieces of armour. A series of netting hammocks are fastened to the ceiling, sagging under the weight of heavy materials.
A warm brown rug covers a dry mud nest tucked in between the staircase and the forge, giving the sleeper a good view over both the cramped workshop and the doorway.

Anyone who lives in Murkbarrow knows that doors don't mean safety; they merely provide the illusion of safety for the comfort of the dragons inside. No amount of locks, latches or convenient broomsticks wedged under the handle will prevent those with ill intentions from entering. The first time Bella had to pick up the shards of a barricade from her workshop floor, she decided to cut out the middle man entirely: if the door was just going to be broken down, there was no point in having a door at all.

The smithy opens straight out onto the alley, tucked away in the wonky mud hut on the other side of the street to the Dusk Clan's main entrance. The gaping hole in a room full of freshly hammered weaponry may seem tempting to some, but 'what's the catch?' is a much stronger survival instinct than 'let's not break down the door'. Not much of a fighter, Bella relies on both the wariness of potential attackers and the imposing look of her forge armour to keep herself and her workshop safe.
