Leaving the controlled chaos of the Mirror pack island is somewhat strange, but you can’t say you are particularly upset; the bunch were quite a lot to handle. You take to the skies once more, fluttering carefully through the crisscrossing pathways that connect the Platforms. As you fly, you spot the familiar figure of Amerion, though they seem focused on something just out of sight. Emboldened by the general friendliness of the Flyers, you swoop down and land a few paces away from the Wildclaw, calling a greeting as you do. Amerion looks up, a smile on their face, then looks back to who he was talking to. A moment later, a small grey Fae with a glittering crystalcourt cascade on her shoulders peeks out from around Amerion, her fins pinned to the back of her head. A small pangolin wanders slowly up to her, nudging her side gently as Amerion gives her an encouraging smile.
“Ah. Yes. Hello, I am Phara,” the Fae says cautiously, sounding scripted even for her species, “Sorry, you startled me. I usually am in the caves, it’s my job.”

Phara spent much of her life alone, having hatched alone in the Shifting Expanse after her egg was lost in the sands. Faes are not naturally skilled warriors, and the Shifting Expanse is an unforgiving desert to the unprepared, which left Phara at a distinct disadvantage. The small Fae was physically in no shape to defend herself, nor could she muster up enough mental stability to do so. Phara was petrified by the world and the dangers, seeing enemies on all sides with no one to run to for safety. Eventually, overwhelmed, Phara fled to the cave systems that ran through the desert, trusting the enclosed, secretive space would help defend her from the dangers outside.

For the most part, living underground was safer. Other than the occasional trip into the daylight to test her luck, Phara stayed in the caves, feeding off of the insects within and drinking from underground reservoirs which were infinitely more reliable that oasis. The one time she returned to the surface to meet another dragon, it happened to be a bandit that severely wounded her; Phara did not return to the surface for a long time after that, and took to avoiding other dragons entirely. Phara was content with this, feeling safe inside the caves. She had enough food, enough water and infinite shelter, illness was rare and dangers were avoidable. Eventually, she found a small pangolin wandering the tunnels with her, and took them in as her familiar, her only social companion. From there, Phara’s life was one of exploration, wandering the caves and collecting the gems from their walls with her pangolin at her side.
Eventually, Phara’s time as a lone wolf cave explorer came to a close, an event that started by her accidentally stumbling upon a lair connected to the caves. She had simply been exploring as she always was when she found herself in a clearly carved tunnel, unfinished but still in use, judging by the tools laying about. Soon enough, Phara encountered her first dragon in many moons, a wheezing Wildclaw named Nylite who was desperate for help. As fearful as Phara was, she could not leave Nylite to die in the caves, so she flew through the tunnels to find his clan and brought their healer to him. Nantis, the King of the Galestorm Flyers, was incredibly relieved by her actions and offered the skittish Fae a place among them, though still doing what she loved. After some convincing, Phara became the official cave explorer of the Flyers, traveling and mapping the complex caverns in their lair, eventually allowing Amerion to follow, which led to romance between the two.

When word arrived of the Flyers pending move to the Windswept Plateau, Phara was conflicted. On one hand, the prospect of new cave systems was fascinating to both her and Amerion, who was on a constant search for more “trinkets”. On the other hand, the Plateau was arguably more open to the sky than the Expanse, which was not something the Fae wanted. With Amerion’s help, Phara took a chance on the move, finding herself relatively pleased with the outcome. There were indeed a plethora of caves for her to explore, and with Amerion by her side she felt safe enough to travel to and from the floating Platforms. Her job description shifted, now exploring caves to find various metals for use by Shika and Ryse, which suited Phara just fine.

Phara can be fairly aptly summed up with the description “skittish but scholarly”. The Fae is skittish and wary of most things, loathing to be out in the open with anyone other than Amerion and spooking at the slightest surprise. Her time is nearly always spent underground in some manner, whether exploring caves or in her underground lair. Both Amerion and her pangolin familiar do their best to help Phara through these anxieties, developing (entirely enclosed) safe spaces for her to relax and acting as her anchor when the anxieties take over. However, there is a thirst for knowledge below that, a love for exploration and understanding of the world beneath their feet. Phara fills her shelves with tomes, maps of caves and their histories, all of which she reads diligently. She enjoys the past more than the present, taking comfort in the clear cut nature of knowing it has happened and there is nothing that could make something go wrong now.
Despite her avoidance of most dragons (a habit she carries from her youth), Phara does have a few solid relationships. First and foremost is Amerion, her friend, mate, and protector. The warrior has always been there to defend her, both from physical harm and the dangers of her mind. To Phara, Amerion is a sign of safety, of peace and tranquility if only for a moment. Phara tries to return the favor by being a home to Amerion, someone they can go to when they need to rest.

The second major relation in the clan actually comes from her youth, that being her familiar. The pangolin has no name that Phara will tell others, but is ever present at her side, a quiet friend that shares her interest in the underground. She can often be seen talking to them, and they seem to listen judging by the understanding nods she gets in return.

The third relation in the clan is that with Shika and Ryse, the two blacksmiths of the clan--rather, one blacksmith and one anti-smith. Born first out of professional necessity, Phara brings the pair various metals and ores from her cave explorations, which earns excited chirps from Ryse and happy smiles from Shika. It is a strange friendship built on brief conversations and mutual trust, but none of them are prepared to abandon it.
