Scarred Hunter

Wounded in a large battle, Hawk limped to the outskirts of this lair, licking his wounds. He wasn't a victor, but he hadn't died, so in the end, he did win. He lost his mate to the battle, a wound that was barely deeper than the rest. She fell early, an embarrassment he will soon forget.

Even though he was wounded, he was brought into this lair by conniving dragons who believed it's better to have a handful of loyal dragons behind them if there was ever a need for it, than need it and not have it. Because of his resolve, Hawk has made himself important enough that most of the other dragons don't object to his presence. He is not a spy for the dragons who rescued him, but he does not really consider himself a regular member of the lair. Still, he is an excellent hunter, and when other members are too busy to hunt for themselves, or acknowledge they are not the greatest hunters, or simply don't want to bother, they usually have him do it for them.

The wounds Hawk sustained in battle will scar when they finally heal. He looks forward to one day wearing them with pride. Until then, he is a rare Plague dragon who fears infection. Secretly, he rubs medicinal herbs against his wounds, untrained in the arts of medicine but wary enough to try anyway. In his home lair, he had seen enough death wrought by infection, a gruesome, unworthy way to die. He does not want to die that way, rotten from the inside out, but die in glorious battle against fearsome foes. If he has to die at all, that is.
