Blackwell

Blackwell has never been friendly. Blackwell has never been close to friendly. What Blackwell is is passionate. She has always cared so, so much about women's health, and freedom of choice, and medical autonomy... to a point. Blackwell has a zero-tolerance policy for stupid. If a woman wants a natural birth with no painkillers, fine. If she wants to nest with a different mate every week, Blackwell doesn't care so long as she's being safe. If someone wants to use essential oils instead of the magical and mundane advances of modern medicine, Blackwell will bar them from her office and will not allow them to return without submitting to a proper treatment plan.

She found that a lot of men didn't respect her, much to her annoyance. A lot of them had a sense of entitlement about it too. Blackwell has always reserved the right to refuse service, and disrespecting Blackwell is a good way to get barred from her practice. She was always good enough to have plenty of clients, most of them women. Blackwell demands respect for herself and her craft, but she also gives a lot of respect when it's due. Women tend to open up to her; she commands honesty, but treats her patients' information with utmost secrecy.

When Octavia approached her to join the coven, she jumped at the chance. The witches all tended to need patching up. Besides, being able to limit her practice to a small circle of women makes her very happy. She wants to find an intelligent, engaging, brilliant woman for a mate, but she's quiet about it (and her crush on the coven's intake coordinator). She's snappish and moody and a master of her craft. Blackwell knows about the blood magic, but the only practice she does is learning how to reverse harmful spells.

Having a doctor in-house is very very beneficial for any closed group, and the coven is no exception. Blackwell is crabby and acerbic, but she's loosened up, and has made herself a valuable member of the flock both socially and professionally. She'll never ever admit it, but Blackwell is very, very happy.
