a quiet flap of wings. a small, drifting feather the color of blood.
“friday? is that you?”
the quiet sound of talons gently landing on wood.
“you know I can’t see well anymore, please tell me if you’re here.”
no response. silence.
and then, a soft whisper.
“doom.”
“friday, dear, is that the only word you know anymore?”
a rustle of feathers.
“doom is the word I have been taught to utter from the day of my birth. it is part of my job on this cursed land, to roam the earth and announce the demise of others and remind their comrades of their impending fate. you ought to realize that by now.”
“alas, you say that as if it makes it morally correct.”
the room turns quiet.
friday’s eyes glow softly in the darkness, two twin lights glaring down with harsh judgment.
“it may not be correct in the eyes of mortal dragons, but it is the truth, and who are you to defy truth itself? it is pure blasphemy, no matter how you see it.”
“that is not my intention and you know
that, friday.”
“then act as such! you have not done anything to prove yourself, and frankly it is disgusting! you claim your innocence and yet you let innocent dragons wither away at your talons! I am not lying when I say I was quite glad to sense your impending destruction!”
friday whirls around and flies out of a hole in the roof of the house, loose crimson feathers fluttering down from her wings.
everything is quiet.
two days later they found him dead.
