He doesn't think it's because of his mangy, braid-tangled mane, or his sunken eyes – no, what he attracts doesn't care much for his appearance.

Nonetheless, ever since he was but a bumbling cub, he saw things that others did not. Shimmering lifeforms in the air, so small you may accidentally breathe them in. Somber whispers in the wind, speaking in hymns and riddles that lulled Astor to sleep. Shadows that sometimes didn't follow their masters and glimmering eyes that flicker in the dark.

It took him a while to realize it, (because he admits, he is rather dense) but it turned out that these entities were attracted to him for some reason. To his energy, his essence. Or maybe it was his ratty appearance and exhausted demeanor, perhaps that's attractive to monsters.

Astor wouldn't have thought any worse of it if he wasn't deemed an outcast because of it. How could a keeper watch their post if they were watching invisible things in the air? How could a gaoler fight if they occasionally jumped at their own shadow? There was also the fact that not all entities were friendly. Actually, most weren't.

Just being in Astor's presence seemed to rile some entities on, make them sizzle and itch with power or rage. This made them more inclined to lash out and attack Astor. Or more importantly, periodically wreck the gaoler facility he used to serve. The head honchos weren't pleased to say the least, so he was kicked out. But really, Astor would much rather talk with the wind than any of the uptight gaolers back at that facility.

So Astor decided to travel Sorienth and become a seeker. Yeah, sure, he'd find shade if he ran into them, but mostly he was interested in interacting with all the different entities and monsters that he stumbled across. Sketching them in his notebook, getting dragged into doing favors, being a listening ear to hear time worn tales, perhaps nearly dying now and then – all that kind of stuff.
  • He uses his lax and joking demeanor to mask his absolutely shi.t self-esteem. Even though he's developed a thick skin now, he was bullied pretty hard when he was younger.
  • He likes tea, and isn't truly alive in the morning until he's had some. He prefers the bitter kind with little sugar.
  • While he is a traveler, so he can't carry many personal items with him, he is very sentimental and likes to keep mementos if he can. (For the very least, leave them in a place he can remember and that they'll be safe)
  • doesn't know how to handle it when other dragons genuinely like him. He kind of just assumes that they'll get creeped out eventually leave.
  • One reason he tends to travel, is that entities tend to fester and make trouble in places he stays in too long. He has unintentionally left a few wrecked villages in his wake and feels unbearably guilty about it.
