━━━━━━━ details ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
PRONOUNS/ SHE/HER
ROLE / HEALER & ASTRONOMIST

━━━━━━━ lore ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Cosmali watched from the sky as plumes of flame erupted from the volcano in the distance, swooping and riding the currents that led her past it. The Ashfall Wastes had been utterly fascinating- learning the constellations of the region and the names the local dragons had for them was enough to pique her interest for weeks or even months. But she had to move on- after all, she only had star charts of five of the eleven regional areas of Sornieth, and a map of all eleven was her plan. She banked, heading west, towards the distant Twisting Crescendo. She’d heard it was a nightmare to chart, but any challenge regarding the stars was one she was gladly willing to face head on. Perhaps she’d even stay a while in those windy hills, like she’d wished to with the Ashfall Wastes. Mountains peaks and heights were familiar to her, after all.

Cosmali was a strange dragon, by the standards of her birth flight. It was more of a trait of an Arcane dragon to have such an intense fascination with the stars and the cosmos above, but Cosmali had never cared. She’d charted her course through Dragonhome, to the Viridian Labyrinth, then down to the Sunbeam Ruins, where she stayed for quite some time. Then she flew to the Sea of a Thousand Currents, studying the skies as she went. Finally, she’d flown to the Ashfall Wastes, and had stayed only long enough to chart the stars and move on. The heat was bad for her scales, she’d claimed, though really she just wanted an excuse to move on to new lands, with new constellations.

Which led her to the Windswept Plateau, and its twisting storms and blustering gusts. The stars above were obscured by the oppressive storm, separating her from her most beloved skies, and leaving her helpless as a navigator. Even though she’d made sure to fly as far from the crescendo as possible, where the hills were the least harsh, the storm was nearly impossible to escape. She kept flying north, towards where the green hills of the Windswept Plateau fell into the deep ocean. But her wings were weak from flying against those harsh winds, and she had no choice but to land soon after upon one of the high-flying platforms, clutching her satchel of star charts to her chest and breathing deeply.

And then she noticed that she’d landed next to a window where two distinct pink eyes were watching her. She stared back at them, slowly taking steps back, when the dragon emerged- they were a black Pearlcatcher with green runes running down their body and making their talons glow with a mysterious light. They dipped their head to Cosmali respectfully, spreading their wings, and not even blinking when the dragon returned their gesture.

“Hello, stranger… I heard you land, but I hadn’t expected to find a nocturne as dark as the night… You seem exhausted. Do you need a place to rest?”

Before even thinking about it, Cosmali nodded. She hadn’t realized the ache in her wings had spread to the rest of her body, and now was probably the wrong time to act stubborn and continue onward. The Pearlcatcher offered her a shoulder to lean on, and walked with her to inside their home, a bright, floating kite with hundreds of sky-houses floating near it, connecting to a central location.

“This is my home. No one will mind you staying to rest.” They led Cosmali to their own bed, soft as the clouds, and left her to rest. Cosmali dreamt of stars and sweeping the storms away with her wings. She dreamt of the black Pearlcatcher and their glowing runes. She dreamt that she had found a home, a place where her talents were not scrutinized because of her flight.

And perhaps, just maybe, she had….
