Biography
Some would call her affliction a curse or a sorrowful occurrence; a tragedy at its finest. Such a pleasant and sweet Coatl. What a shame it is that she lost her voice young, who could have predicted such a thing? She had long since lost the ability to tell them why she had lost her voice or how it had occurred but, maybe, it was best to let them ponder the nature of the scarring over her snout and maw. Nobody ever appreciated being told the darker paths in their lives nor how it may end in tragedy. In the lost clan of counting, many of the dragons were shrouded in such a thing and Vaiki could offer them no solace on a brighter future. She could tell tall tales of how a wraith would rise with giants at her side and how loved ones would die; how an emperor would rise with gilded copper and bronze for his crown, and how it would take great sacrifice to dethrone him. She could weave fables of monsters beneath the dirt coated in ichor and grime that one day, too, would break free from their earthly tethers to raze the waking realm once more in her wrath. Nobody wished to hear of those though. Nobody wanted to know how they would die or how they would outlive their own children. So, instead, she took the very key to those secrets away from prying eyes and nosy dragons. It was left buried in the Arcane dirt along with crimson stained feathers and her faltering confidence at the road led before them. A larger snout bumped her side causing Arcane eyes to blink in question. She had seen Rowan’s coming too; his past, his future and everything in between. Somedays, she had to wonder if he could see in the same way she could; conversations held with only one part talking. There are days where Vaiki sees a young Imperial covered in the viscous remnants of parental protection and other days, she sees a battle hardened general being accosted by hatchlings the size of his claws; a small scattering of Imperials and Coatls. Vaiki knows their names and their children to come too, and sure it’s probably cheating but she loves the life they’re going to have and the family that will flourish for generations. These are the things that she wishes she could say but those joys to come were the mystery of life, and who was she to spoil that for the Imperial always at her side. It was the cost that she would pay for protecting what was to come and allowing those that would fall, the happiness they deserve before it ends. She could make peace with her fate if this was the burden to bare in exchange for protecting her clan in their time of well-deserved calm.
