H E S T I A

Godess of the hearth and home. Hestia’s role seems more humble and close, but nonetheless she’s hugely powerful, influential and brilliant, as she maintains these warm things so dear to us, that give life meaning and beauty. That sense of peace that comes when looking in a fireplace, or that fuzzy feeling of returning home after a long holiday, she puts the magic in these.

Hestia’s history then: the oldest and youngest of Zeus’ siblings, Hestia is stereotypically a chaste, passive, obedient godess, helping others, giving up her own pleasures. Best shown by her giving up her position as the twelfth Olympian to the god of wine. Like, what a darling? Anyway, so Hestia now spends her time as a thirteen year old girl (mainly), giving calm to the storms of the world, reality to those submerged in a changing, foreign world, warmth in the darkness around us. Hestia owns our hearths, homes and hearts.
