The God of Death, the clans call him. The nickname is all too inaccurate; “god” implies that he holds power over life and death, and that is far from the truth. In fact, it is nearly the opposite. But that begs the question: what is the truth?

The truth is that Crow himself, despite being the child of the gatekeepers of death, is powerless. Useless. Worthless. He cannot sense spirits that pass on, and he cannot help them. He has no connection to the dead. Nothing will change that. Nothing will change the shame that dwells within him due to the fact that he has none of the connection to the dead that all of his family members share. He does not allow it to bring him down, however; it is that simple truth that drives him.

His mission is simple: destroy anyone who stands in the way of his desires. And those desires? Oh, just the usual. Bring down the gates between life and death, show his parents and everyone else who doubted him just how powerful he truly is.

He just didn’t expect to meet a brown-feathered librarian with a heart of gold and a wit as sharp as his own.
