Born to a kind family in the forest, Riku lived a quiet life growing up. As a hatchling, he would love to explore the forest and scale the trees to get a good view of the sky above. His parents would always ridicule him for being so careless and kept telling him to stay away from the trees. Riku did not listen though, continuing to go agaisnt his parents' wishes to fulfil his own desires.

As Riku got older, he was forced to partake in training camps to boost his strength and agility. At these camps, his interesting in exploration dimmed as he was forced into a different mindset. Yelled at and occassionaly beaten, Riku was miserable for several years.

Once Riku returned from this camp, his parents took advantage of his broken state to show him how to help them out with their fruit picking business. Riku took part in this for several years, all sense of adventure and curiously eventually wiped from his mind. All he could think of was working, which made him similar to a zombie, with lifeless eyes and dull movements.

After many years of carrying on a boring and repetive life, Riku finally snapped out of his trance. What caused it? One day Riku went out into the forest to fetch some berries from a bush that was a bit of a distance away. Little did Riku know, that bush was located right next to the tree he always used to climb when he was a hatchling. When he reached the bush, he eyes lit up when he saw the familiar tree, claw marks still present from the past.

Riku forgot about everything, climbing the tree once again, his claws slipping into the holes left behind from many years prior. Once he reached the top, the view he received amazed him just as it once had. Riku reached a claw up to the sky as if to grab the sun that beat down overhead. He reached up as far as he could like he believed he could reach it. But Riku lost his balance, falling forward through the canopy into the darkness.

When Riku awoke, he found himself alone beside a river, crimson blood oozing from a wound in his head. He stood up, nearly falling back down due to being uncoordinated. The sound of the flowing water relaxed his pounding headache, and he took a step forward into the cold water. It soothed his senses, causing his tense body to relax as he continued to walk through the river. Once he reached the other side, his dripping claws sunk into the now dampened dirt, seeping through the cracks of his scales.

Riku looked in front of him, seeing only darkness in the forest in front of him. His green irises widened slightly as he attempted to adjust to the darkness. He walked forward into the darkness, his feathered tail swishing behind him. He wandered in the dark for some time, looking around for any signs of movement or light. But there was nothing, just darkness.

Suddenly, a voice echoed from around the imperial, making him shiver. "Are you lost, young imperial?" Riku's head tilted around, looking for the source to the voice. "Right here," the voice chimed again from behind Riku, causing him to whirl around. The outline of another dragon stood there, its form glowing a bright green. Riku was unable to tell what dragon it was from just the form, even as it approached him. "Are you lost?" It repeated, its head tilted curiously as it circled Riku. He nodded, attempting to follow the figure with his eyes.

The figure then stopped walking as it stood in front of Riku. "In that case... Would you like to join me?" Riku tilted his head, confused to what the figure meant. It's glowing green tail flicked patiently as it sat down in front of him. "Riku, is it? Would you like to be my successor and the guardian deity of this forest?"
