Young, beautiful, and stunning, Dawnflower was sent by her parents from the Shifting Expanse via a mating program in order for her to meet with her assigned mate and start a successful family. The program accepts requests from parents to find a suitable mate for their hatchlings, and sends them off to large and well-established clans in order to have a place they can safely call home, with a secondary advantage of allowing families to spread themselves out all over the Sornieth. Duskwalker (who had been sent out on the same program from the Viridian Labyrinth), her assigned mate, trekked across the lands to the Shifting Expanse in order to meet her family and allow them to provide their approval. Upon receiving her parents' blessings, the two traveled together to Firestorm's clan in the Ashfall Waste.
She was happy to take part in the program, and, while she doesn't know her mate Duskwalker very well yet, she is happy and excited to begin her family.
