His parents aren't entirely sure how this happened, but Ilex is able to produce a very strong neurotoxin from his mouth. It won't kill - unless he happens to bite someone multiple times - but it will incapacitate for several hours. Ilex has gotten better about regulating the release of this neurotoxin and can prevent it completely if he wishes. When he allows the neurotoxin to mix withe the secretions for his pearl, it cures to a greenish hue. Already, his pearl has become vividly green. Ilex has started to study other neurotoxins, particularly those produced by creatures.
