VARKA
Seeker Independent | Irritable | Proud A high-ranking individual in the seeker order. She has taken down and helped contain many shade-touched or unruly creatures throughout the many centuries she's been alive, and is very respected by most of gaoler society. She is rigid and cool like the Icewarden himself, some even whispering he blessed her with some of his power. This of course, is just a rumor. Varka has dedicated herself to her training since a young age, and takes pride in how far its gotten her. Her fighting techniques are quick and merciless, dealing blow after blow after blow until an opponent is unable to fight back (or in some cases unable to even move). Her signature move is called "The Guillotine", in which she uses the combined strenght of her wings and her claws to inflict heavy damage to an enemy. Not many are able to take that attack head-on and continue the fight. After word got out that Voile, Fawry and Lunate deserted the gaoler society, leaving their duty like it was worth nothing, Varka was tasked with finding them, containing them, and dragging them back to the Fortress of Ends, where their fate would be decided by the order of sentinels. As simple sentries, nobody expected them to put up much of a fight, thus it was decided this would be a solo mission for Varka. That assumption is what led to the ultimate faillure of the mission. By the time Varka found the deserters, they had already taken up residency in the Purring Winds, and were thus under the protection of the clan. Confident in her own abilities and the weakness of modern breeds, Varka attacked, relentless and cruel, uncaring about anything but her mission. She would take down the deserters, and she would take them back to the Fortress of Ends. There was no other option in her mind. She unfortunately underestimated the tenacy and numbers of the Purring Winds, and wound up losing to their warriors. Badly. She had failed her mission. She had failed as a seeker. She had failed as a Gaoler. She grew afraid. She could hardly return to the Fortress of Ends without the deserters. She would be degraded! She would be the subject of mockery for the rest of her pitiful, pitiful life! She would be punished like the failure she was, and left to rot for the Icewarden's pleasure! To perish on the battlefield would be a preferable fate. But no, she couldn't even have that, because these stupid, stupid modern dragons took pity on her, and took care of her, and nursed her back to health. She moaned and whined for days, begging them to just stop, to let her go so she could at least dunk herself into the Wyrmwound, where she would surely perish, and maybe with a little luck her companions would think she'd lost her life in battle. No such luck. Sparga and her companions were such softies. So unfit for a dragon of their caliber! Stupid, soft, idiotically friendly modern breeds. Even the stupid deserters took time to visit her, talking her ears off about all the lovely things they'd seen. It made her want to gag. She was here to take them to their punishment! Why were they being so darned nice to her? Varka just couldn't understand. You had companions among your order, whom you could respect and who respected you, but if they turned on you you'd just off them. She wasn't even their companion. So much time passed. Varka's wounds grew better, but her mind was still bitter. She didn't know what to do anymore. She couldn't go back to the Fortress of Ends, of that there was no question. But she could hardly just... leave the deserters be. It wouldn't be right. So, she decided, the least she could do was keep an eye on the deserters. Gain the trust of this clan. Maybe, just maybe, if she could do that... Well, those were thoughts for the future. | xxxxxx |
