Agate pursues his interests passionately. Some of it is pure arcane inclination. Learning the mechanisms with how rocks, crystals, and minerals intersects with Sornieth’s magics (elementally aligned or otherwise). When not studying magical theory, he is out in the field, always testing or fiddling with something or another. He finds the ways that various crystals are magic absorbent, and how some aren’t a very interesting topic.

This passion to understand how magic and geology flows together is what really drives him to achieve a mastery of these topics. Some of that does include learning how both subjects can be used in a combat setting. Despite this, he is more of a pacifist and doesn’t like to fight unless it is either necessary to survive or sparing to attain data. He knows it’s assumed that if he is in a sparing match, they aren’t necessarily out for blood and that brings him some comfort.

He’s run headlong into his studies, and hopes to get some acclaim for working out the logistics and mechanics of how magic can work with crystals (something that is common knowledge but is not always investigated). Others find him odd, if occasionally charming in his enthusiasm of these niche subjects.
