Song. He hears song in the metal in his claws, he hears it in the hot steam that surrounds the vents, he hears it in the stone and he hears it in himself. The reforger does not remember when he started to hear song. He only knows that the world was silent. Then it was not. The smoke billows into a symphony. The embers burn notes into the sky. The fire breaths music he cannot describe. The reforger previously dwelled in a land that was living, but simultaneously not. One that festered underfoot and sounded nauseatingly pained. He could do nothing to ease it's wails. Then. He met the goddess. Goddess in title only, but one who brought a song of life with her. The air beneath her wings sang of promise, of hope, and of warmth. Her smile brought scattered notes that filled the missing pieces of the reforger's music. With the Light she brought, he could hear it. The song of the Wasteland. It was chaotic and out of tune, but it was song. Song can be altered, song can be refined, it can be healed. Maybe one day he could. His goddess was free, wild, unable to stay. Her song yearned for adventure and for thrill. His yearned for her. Taking the goddess' claw, he left the song of his home behind. As it faded into the distance, he heard a part of him ring with regret. After all, the reforger had only just discovered the Wasteland's sound. But, his goddess giggles, the song will always be with him. He smiles. She cannot hear it, he can tell, but the chimes of her joy tell him she wants to understand. He hears her song in his, and his in hers.

The song he hears loudest is the Flamecaller's. It echos in the ash, in the shore, in him. The Flames call to him, the lands are fluid- waiting to be shaped and crafted. Waiting for him. This is where he settles, where he belongs. In all things, there is a song. A song that is powerful and quiet, silent and deafening, a song that the reforger can always find. He brings songs back from the brink, makes them louder and stronger, he brings out the notes buried deep or broken seemingly beyond repair. Song can be altered, song can be refined, song can be reforged. Made stronger and more beautiful then ever. His work is thankless and ceaseless, he works constantly to repair the broken songs of the Flamecaller and bring warmth back into the lands. But, his song is endless. His Light undying. His Plague is but the will by which he drives himself forward. He will reforge the song of the world so it can be heard by his goddess. So they can be heard period. And he will no longer be it's sole audience member. | ____________ |
