Moments after Cas hatching a Somber Spirit named Neko settle next to the young dragon, bonding to him. The clan took this as a sign that Cascade was important.

Journal Entry #1
"I was raised like a child of royalty. I hated being held above the rest of my clan, my parents saw Neko as a bad omen and gave me up. Valane and Tagon raised me like their own child. I don't worship them like the rest though. I treat them like my parents, my family, how could I not? My own parents turned their backs on me because Neko saw something in me, something I can't even see."

"I bought this really warm Cape today. It goes nicely with my Iron Bands and Neko loves to hide under it. I am starting an apprenticeship in a few weeks. I want to become the clan's Shadow ambassador, it took a little persuasion but eventually Mom aka Valane said yes. Others in the clan say I am her weakness, the only one she truly loves. Even as another will say I am her weapon, her resource. As an ambassador I can see the world, change lives, and protect my clan."

"Exciting news! I've finally graduated from my Apprenticeship! I am officially 'Cascade, Ambassador of the Shadows'. I will be going into hibernation for a bit, but after that I will leave on my first journey. I am hibernating for many reasons but the main one being the hatred I get from my clan mates. They hate that Valane is soft on me, that she truly cares. Space from the clan will help me understand what they see. I won't be writing from hibernation so Goodbye for now."

"Hello there I've now been awake for a few days. I'm feeling so alive! It seems that the talk about me has died, makes me wonder what Mother has done.... Anyway, many new members have joined the clan and many new young have hatched and gone. I will be visiting a few clans soon. I need to gather some scrolls and a couple other supplies to make the journey. I'll write again when I have time. Ta Ta!"

Have you ever sat outside at night and felt like something larger was calling to you? Odd dreams of shadows and voices. Feeling a pull to the darkest of shadows, the ones you were always warned to avoid. I fear telling anyone. They would cast me out like some crazy dragon. I found some old scrolls and books that reference these feelings. They speak of the gods.... could I really be something special or will I bring pain to my clan.... just like my birth parents warned.

Shade touched, that's what they call those that have connected with the darkest, most dangerous shadows. I fear I may be one of them. My fear is rational, even StarFall has said that she can see something clinging to my soul. How much longer before I am lost. I guess they were right, I am dangerous and I should have greeted the shadows at birth. Mother still says she won't let me go, she won't let them get rid of me. But I here the whispers, the rumors. There is a growing rebellion and they plan to use me as a pawn. I won't let them have me. Until next time, Cas
